Hi,
I'm an 800 meter D3 collegiate freshman with a PR of 1:58 (off of almost no mileage and a lot of speed in high school). I'd like to run low 1:55s by the end of the track season (April 23rd).
After cross country season, I did about 50 miles a week with some sessions of hills, fartlek, and 400s or 200s once in a while. Right now I'm doing a fartlek/tempo workout once a week, a speed session once a week (200s, 400s, etc.) and usually racing once every two weeks. I've run 2:02.6, and I'll likely go under 2:00 this weekend.
I'd like to really improve my kick in the 800. I usually do 200 sessions in around 29-31, but I have the speed to run a high 25 or low 26 second quarter. What type of sessions should I do to be able to finish an 800 with my full potential in speed (perhaps doing the last 200 in 27/28 rather than 30.)?
Thanks
