Looking at the list of guys running the 10k plus the few guys that didn't qualify but are ahead of Chris on the list really puts into perspective how bad the last couple years have been.

Have to figure he sees the writing on the wall and is doing a long build up for his marathon debut in the fall. He's too fragile to do the speed work necessary to compete with the current crop of guys with sub 13 5k and sub 27:30 10k potential like Rupp, Hill, True, Mead, Lagat, and Jenkins. Wonder if he regrets going all in for world cross last year and coming out injured?

Remember when clowns on this board picked Chris Derrick to make the Olympic Marathon Team?
This board and its predictions can always bring a smile to my face.
The guy that was too fragile to run a sub 28:15 over the last 2 years was going to get enough work in to make the Olympic Marathon Team?
PRICELESS
Wow, you're like brilliant! You come on these boards and point out that some people were mistaken about something. Absolute genius!
Surprise!
As of this morning (6/29), USATF expanded the 10k field from 24 to 27 runners.
No idea why but happy they did.
Chris is now the last person Accepted . . . and will be racing Friday evening.

ridiculous
Chris was told he didn't need the time to run in the trials.
Why else would he have not run the Portland Twilight on June 12 in his hometown with pacers?
Just like Adam Goucher. He knew.
The poor guy has had some injury issues. I don't recall specifically what they were, but one presumes they've been quite bad. As I recall, one of the Letsrun staff or maybe a brojo emailed him a while back and got a reply with details about his struggles.
What the hell does that have to do with him not running a qualifier in his hometown 3 weeks ago?
If he was too hurt to run 3 weeks ago then he certainly is not fit enough to make the team. And that is the purpose of the race Friday. If he finishes 30 seconds back from the leaders he and his coach should be banned from the sport.

Accept Goucher hadn't even attempted a 10k in the qualifying period. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not sure he even had ever run one up until then. #GouchergateNeverForget
*Except.
Please excuse the error.

Wow, you look dumb now. I don't expect you to have the gonads to take ownership of your statement, though.
His company had the field expanded to get him in. That's how much he's running on Friday.
Idiot.
You are correct. I owe this board an apology.
I saw no scenario where Chris Derrick would be so unethical as to try to run the 10k even though he was not listed in the top 24. I was wrong. He is just like the dopers and other cheaters that he always rails against. He will justify cheating when it comes down to himself.
I also thought that the public out cry against Nike for blatantly cheating with Adam Goucher would cause them to take a stronger ethical stand with Chris. I was wrong. Nike will always cheat. I should of known better.
