Where is Jim Ryun's schedule?
Where is Jim Ryun's schedule?
Why isn't he filming the workouts or at least part of them? I honestly have a hard time believing him. His words seem rambled and he didn't even know how old his brother was. With the way this is being presented I need to see some proof.

Is it that hard to believe he ran a 3 x 400? Anyway great thread. Best stuff on LetsRun currently. He should record himself running eventually though.
If you honestly don't believe my workouts for anybody in this thread ill record them all from now on on my garmin and upload them to strava(I stopped using my garmin cause i think its messed up) ill occasionally film as well https://www.strava.com/athletes/13457642
Thanks bro!

What are your current PRs?
400: 1:06
800: 2:22
Mile:5:23
2 mile:12:39
5k:20:20
10k:44:45-50
Half Marathon:1:54
To support that, calculo, Jack Daniels states that Timmons told him that he had 34 boys running the Ryun workouts at the beginning, but only one of them completed them--Jim Ryun. He was an incredibly hardy specimen for those few years through 1967 and it made him great. For anyone else wanting to do 50x440y, then 18x880 (@2:44) the next day, etc., and with a morning 5 miler every day but Sunday (10M at 6:30 pace), I'd say it is very much worthwhile to try it but only after a gradual buildup--not all at once. Notice one useful thing is that the paces are not that fast for a fair amount and as JD pts out, you could just go out for a 5:30 pace 9M tempo if you were Ryun instead of doing the 880s on the track. By doing it on the track, Timmons could control it and the paces would likely be faster than out on the roads, but that many left turns alone is going to get most people injured unless you switch directions every day.
Of course, I should add that everyone who tries it will get injured.

What's good man? Awesome you're doing this. You're very quick for your age, and it's obvious you're willing to put in the hard work to become a great distance runner. You'll learn a lot about yourself in the process.
A couple of tips, because I did something similar to this all the way back in 2004 when I was 14.
1) Don't use your real name publicly. Usernames are fine - but you don't want someone trying to troll you in real life or trying to smear your name. That stuff can stick with you for years.
2) If your body isn't responding to the workouts, it's OK to rest. You don't want to mess up your joints for years down the road. Don't feel like because everyone's watching, you HAVE to finish. Your health comes first. Period.
3) This one should be obvious, but so many people still struggle with it - ignore the haters. There is literally not one person in the public eye who doesn't have Internet haters. Your supporters will know this too, so don't worry about your friends reading the hater comments. And don't bother responding to them - just do your thing and let the results speak for themselves.
Day 3 is up!
Sorry for the shit quality so far, didn't think it would get this big so I was just messing around good quality from now on! - Thanks for the support
Whoever wrote this deserves a medal. Too true. Listen kid, you do you and ignore haters who want to bring you down. Keep it 100.
Thanks, bro. I for sure will listen to my body and ignore haters. As for using my real name I changed it now so its good! Thanks for the inspiration bro
To get the full training effect get driven to and from the workouts in the back of an old pickup truck along dusty Kansas backroads in 95+ degree heat while getting yelled at for not being fast enough.
D00d you can't skip days around. Toughing it out is part of the challenge.

Cut him some slack, if he does 80% of it it's still impressive and quality entertainment
I didn't skip days...I switched it out with my rest day that was always there!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
