Back just in time to spank the Mo bot!
Unfortunately Jeilan has already been spanked by the Mo bot, in the Pre 10K ...
But Jeilan is coming off injuries.... getting back quickly to his 2011 form!

I'm telling you, if Mo Farah was in this particular 5k race, he would not have finished it better than Ibrahim's finish. Some of you might say 55 sec last lap doesn't scare Farah, but keep in mind Jeilan had out-kicked Farah with about 51 last lap before. It took 55 sec last lap for Jeilan to take down 5k specialists Kejelcha and Edris. And, remind me how fast Farah closed in his last lap to win at Pre 10k and/or Birmingham 3k this year.... 58/59?
From what we saw, Jeilan smoked Kejelcha in last 80 meters.
Surely, in Olympics, He is going to run the last 400m in 52". His speed is very, very close to Mo's speed (excluding a fast 800m split, and basic 1500m speed, which is the main advantage of Farah over him right now)
On what I've seen this year, he's the only one who can worry Mo. Kejelcha doesn't seem to be in great form, and Mo beat him when he was anyway.
ALLAHU AKBAR with Ibrahims might we will convert all infidels!!!!!!!!
Every time I see "Jeilan" in print I think of sprintgeezer's comment that he came close to sprinting form back in 2011. he sure showed some sprint ability here, none of his competitors were even close in that respect
Very embarrassing from the interviewer here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFpsqK7Q0rM
The interviewer called Ibrahim Jeilan, "2nd place getter 'Abera Kuma' of Ethiopia"....Jeilan didn't bother to correct her either. lol.
Jeilan was terrific in the last lap of that 2011 World 10000m and he did have some sprinting form: see his shoulder position, his arms pumping with palms flat and perpendicular to the ground, even fairly high knees, but it has to be said that Mo went from 500m not just to keep the lead, but to blow the race open and he tired. Since then he has usually done what is necessary only to hold the lead that last 500m but to sprint all out only the last 100-150m. That is what he did in the 2011 5000m (Lagat might have beaten him if not for Merga's interference with about 90m to go) and what he has done since. The only difference was that after losing to Ethiopians at Doha last year (Gwet) because he fought really hard to keep Kejelcha from the lead and so couldn't hold off Gebrhiwet when he went hard at the end, Farah let others get the lead if necessary for awhile before destroying them in the end. I don't think that Farah is going to lose to Jeilan by using the same failed tactics.

He's going to need to be better than his 2011 form to beat Mo who has improved since 2011.

Naturally, of course. As is the case with every athlete over 30.
In other news, wtf is up with Rudisha? Has the lead at 550m, on a slow, even paced race, great weather, and gives it all up in the last 120 meters....in a SLOW 1:45-1:46 race.

Jeilan is something like 6-7 years younger than Farah

Right now, Brazier is better than the Rudisha. Can't hide from the clock.

I wouldn't read too much into Jeilan beating two 5K specialists ... both have been racing a lot lately; probably simply tired this race.
As for Farah's last laps in that 10K and 3K ... he ran what he needed to in order to win. It would seem his finishing speed isn't the same right now, but plenty of time to work on that by the Olympics. Training for the the half in Cardiff back in March probably hurt his speed some, in the short term.

?
Rudisha always "sucks" in the rain.
He is currently training with Jama Aden's group coach of Ayanle Soulieman, Dibaba former coach of Makhloufi which explains his resurgance.

True, but Jeilan PBd in that 10000, coming off injury. Mo didn't.
Jeilan seems to be back on an upward trajectory, now he's just moving down in distance to sharpen his speed and his kick.
Honestly, I don't care which one of 'em wins in Rio, but I do want to see someone with such a beautiful stride as Jeilan's challenge the Mo bot all the way to the line, making it a photo finish.
Or just anyone, actually - the sport needs it.
