How many of you chew gum while running? Does it help or hinder your breathing cadence, quench your thirst or dehydrate you, stay relaxed more etc?

I do pretty often. Usually only for an easy run or warm up. If I have a workout I throw it out b/c I think I might choke. In the cold the mint-ness helps keep my airways clear from snot, etc.
Used to race a guy who chewed gum all the time. Chris Bailey(ILStateU), he's the XC coach there now. Great runner. 10K All-American in '99(low 29:00)...I'm sure he was chewing gum even in that race. He did it in HS and all through college...with great success, if I might add.
