I really love them (I have been using them since 2000), light and responsive. I hope Adidas won't ever discontinue this amazing shoe.
Anybody else using them as the main trainer ? If so, what shoes do you use for racing ? I use the old Taper or the DS racer
I'm on something like my 20th pair of Supernova Classics. Great shoe. Last year I discovered the Supernova Competition, which is one of the sturdier racing flats or more like a very light-weight trainer. I alternate between the two, doing faster workouts and even long runs in the competitions.
Hotlanta master: are the supernova competition similar to the old taper ? thanks!
its the same shoe more or less.
I think I am on number 33 or so. I used to train 500 miles in them, then give them to my teammate and he would run 200 or 300 in them. Very durable, best shoe on the market for my biomechanics.
simply the best shoe made in the last 10 years,
I am pair number, ahh forget it, I can't even count how many pairs I have had since 1997.
I can run easy days in them, I can run workouts in them, they always feel good
best trainers out there.
The Competition is very different than the taper. I used to run marathons in the Taper, but would develop a painful twinge in the medial side of my left knee late in the race, due to the lack of arch support. The Competition has great arch support, but is still pretty light.
Arthur Lydiard looked them over when he was here. He thought they were good shoes, though a little stiff in the arch. I told him about my arch support problem and he said "Well, if you need it, you need it."
I've heard the Supernova Classic was designed by a contract designer who was paid a relatively small one time fee for his design. Can you imagine the money he would have made if he had residuals coming from that shoe for 5-7 years? My favorite of all time too. I bought like 21 pairs for $27 a piece at the adidas outlet once. They took me through about 2 years of running. probably had 12-15 other pairs over the past few years. I keep trying other things but keep coming back to SC's or there close cousin the Boston Classics.
I agree... a great shoe. I've tried on other styles from Adidas, other brands, but can't seem to find anything that works as well.
BTW, "Better than the original" - aren't they originals?!
Anyone know an online store i can get SC's for cheap? My feet, knees, hips, and back thank you!
