One weird thing is that alongside all the resume items that seem to be total fibs, everyone in here seems to accept that in the middle of running (and winning! Oooo aaaahhh) marathons across the US last year, he hopped a plane back home and pulled a 3:09 (or 3:07?) at London.
Are we sure it was even him? Yes, the splits look fine... but was it even him.
letsrun is full of detectives with a lot of time, like that marathoninvestigations guy and his scatterplots and photos of people running boston in somebody else's bib... has anyone looked at anything to see if he was even at the london marathon in 2015?
Here's what I don't get:
His best confirmed 5k (assuming it's really him running any of these races) is I believe 18:55. Yet he evidently flew over to London and cracked off a ~ 17:30 5k to start off the London Marathon (and finished in a respectable 3:07), in the middle of running daily marathons across the US.
So does he just go to 5k races and dick around or what's the deal here?
A lot of people use parkruns just as a hard or even fun training session so the 18.55 may not be a full effort. Also the London marathon has a downhill section in the early stages so the 5k split is a bit flattering. Even so one has to figure he could do sub 17 if he tried and was rested.
