hi defender of rob.
Rob will never release proper evidence. Even if he does, nothing else will come of it.
We'll always be "a small group of individuals in the running community" to be ignored.
His fans will continue to hero worship him.

I disagree. Running cheaters are first & foremost narcissists. In love with and in awe of themselves. They don't take their eyes off the mirror long enough to follow these stories. And if they did, they wouldn't recognize themselves in the Mike Rossis or the Rob Youngs. The next LRC target is out there right now, logging fake miles and boasting about it all over social media.

PR people will tell you that when you're caught in a scandal (like politicians, for example), say as little as possible and release as little evidence as possible. Every time you talk or release info, it's gas on the fire. That's why there was such radio silence at the end. One long carefully crafted statement brings it to an end for the their supporters with nothing more needed to be said or released, and the critics who want the data are insignificant, only a "small group of skeptics." We'll never see the data.
Actually, the reverse is true. As a news junkie (CNN/Fox/MSNBC), I've heard political pros and "fixers" repeatedly make the point that the slow drip is what kills you. "Get it all out as soon as possible," is what they all say.

And runners love to say they have stress fractures because that's perceived as a *real* injury. Just look at this board. Tons of threads with "Oh, my foot hurts. Can it be a stress fracture? (please say yes...)". So everybody's happy with this diagnosis.
Stress fractures can only reliably be found with MRI. And that must be done at least a week after it happened.
Agreed re the so called "stress facture". So where did those reports come from, saying the toe was a fracture? You think they made them themselves?
If a patient complains about pain on the top of the foot, the quick diagnosis is a stress fracture. But the toe extensor tendons, those you see on the top of your foot when you extend your toes, are far more often the culprit. And these will be irritated by too narrow/small shoes. When RY started actually running, his feet probably expanded a lot, evidenced by the cutting of the front to accommodate his swollen toes.
Anyway, his feet were probably a mess and hurt everywhere when he saw the doctor. And when everything hurts and is swollen it's not possible to set a precise diagnose. If the patient *wants* an injury, he'll get it.

Depends whether the scandal has merit or not. If there really is no scandal, then sure, get it all out there, and critics will still find some inconsistencies or things to question, but nothing substantial. But if you have a true scandal, then you say and give as little as possible, enough to make it look like there's no scandal but the more you say and data you give, then you have more problems trying to cover it up.
We have a true scandal here. The data would be damning. Even partial data would be damning. And no need to release anything because the critics demanding it are presented as haters, few in number, without merit, and insignificant. No need to give them anything that can further their claims or try to answer what is perceived as unnecessary questions.
Fwiw, we should not turn off the pressure for them to release the data. It should be brought up every single time he attempts to race publicly from now on.

Bizarre.
Absolutely right.
If you are guilty, never admit guilt.
UNC has never admitted the 20 year documented cheating, fake classes for basketball and football players, etc. even though the investigation they paid for revealed it.
They have spent over $10 million dollars in PR to say that it was all started to benefit solely women's basketball.
Never admit you are guilty.

just like "he's the real deal" from other posts...
For those arguing about who deserves the credit for thwarting RY's attempt, I think it is both.
Ulist and team geezer stopped the attempt by forcing them to run themselves into the ground. It took "boots on the ground," or at least "orthopedics on the ground" to end the run prematurely.
Letsrun thwarted any attempt to scrub the data and make it look more legit if it was only team laz observing. The foresight to download and publicize the tracker file, the 71 facebook pics of the tomtom screenshots, and all the other data prevented them from purging the record and spinning a better narrative.
It took both.
Well done by all.

Did if for me and 100% of my handful of followers are real and active.
Did it for Brian Lawlor and 40% were fake and 14% inactive.
Good job Asher and geezers. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Note to Rob Young and his buddies: Don't mess with the LetsRun! Heh heh heh heh booyah baby!

That's premature, like aircraft carrier premature.
Rob Young will live to run and scam another day. It's not over. He's pretty much survived the PR battle and won the court of public opinion since major media outlets have been few to mention it and none have accused him of cheating, only that questions have been raised.
I don't know how much this story will have traction in the UK, and that's where he's selling his books, speaking for engagements and such. If he attempts a big record in the UK, will there be enough critics there to observe and scrutinize him 24/7?
Unlikely he can pull anything like this off again in the US, though.

That's what I mean. Re these reports. Do you think they made these reports themselves? They have scanners and computers. Photos of bits of paper mean nothing, they could have been forged. It's very doubtful a stress fracture would show on an x-ray. As another person posted, you need an MRI scan, and over here anyway, that takes many weeks to arrange.
