Any miler types here know anything about lifting for shorter distances? What do you do? Just curious.

I lift 2 - 3 times a week depending on what I feel is necessary.
Tuesday:
3 x 30 sec. core stability, 10 pushups after each set.
100 abs (anyway you want to do them)
Then I focus on chest and triceps for the actual lifting.
Bench, row, tricep pull downs, dips, etc.
Thursday:
Repeat core stability and abs.
Then I focus on biceps and abs for the actual lifting. Various types of curls (with bar and dumbells), leg lifts, incline situps, shrugs, floor sides (lay sideways with legs curled and do situps), etc.
That's what I have been doing and so far it's working out pretty well. I can tell that I am definitely getting stronger, especially in the core area from the stability work and leg lifts.
Cool thanks. What do you mean by "core stability?"
Stability pushups. You get down like you are doing a regular pushup, instead of going up and down, just hold yourself as level as possible for 30 seconds at a time. Then roll over to your side and hold yourself up with one arm, roll over and repeat. That is a set. You can start by doing 15 seconds or however long is going to make your abs work hard and then build up. Here is a picture to show you:
