Agreed. That's a hell of a day. I would think it's too much but I'm not a coach. I've always heard that some coaches blessed to have really talented youth runners will push them as hard as possible--some will fall by the wayside but one or two could just emerge to be truly national class or maybe even world class.
The thing about Alberto, though, is that he really has appeared to have brought Rupp along very patiently. So why do people think he's done wrong by Cain or others?

Rupp had access to more aids than Cain has since she isn't in the inner circle of the Salazar group. This allowed Rupp to continue to get better while continuously increasing intensity. Right around the time little Salazar was being used as a Lab Rat to find out how much T would trigger a positive Rupp magically found a kick and at the end of races and dropped tons of PRs. Look back at some of the original threads about Rupp and when he took his career to the next level and some whistle blower was saying he started taking T.
Mary was training like a world medalist at 17 years old with no real thoughts of a long term career and this is what she has to show for it. Flash in the pan success and now 20 years old without much of a future. Salazar didn't need to have her doing what his other runners were doing in their late 20's early 30's but he did it any way. If you are going to be with the NOP you are only training for medals and there isn't another option. That's why so many burn out from his high volume/intensity training after about 2 years because the body is destroyed. Also why the Thyroid matter comes into play because they need that to slow the process of deterioration.
