You trackhead dweebs just HAVE to keep the revolving trackhead self-promotion going, don't you?
Why not just build a f***ing shrine and bow down and pray to it six times a day?
Wait, I see another 5000 meters movie thread on the horizon.

I suppose I missed a good deal of the minimalist discussion when it first came around.
I have had many injuries and worn orthotics and normal trainers (New Balance).
Do you have any sort of writeup of how you go about getting people out of their orthotics?
Also, how does everyone afford buying new pairs of racing flats every 200 miles, and what shoes are the best to train in/walk around in?
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
1) Find a shoe that doesn't cause any overpronation. Lower profile, probably 10/20mm, and have someone watch for any overpronation. If your narrow, try the SNova Comp (2005). If not, try the NB 900. Basically, you want the lowest shoe with the least pitch from heel to toe possible, that still feels good and doesn't cause any overpronation. The Free might even be one to try, although with all of these, and that Free especially, you can expect to be sore from renewed muscle use.
2) A lot of transition depends on what your running is like right now. If you just running whatever, then you can afford to cut the lot of it and start at 20min runs and build up. But if you don't want to do that, you'd have to incrementally work yourself out of the orthotic and into the lower shoes. Start with one run per week (30min or so) and as things go well, add more and more easy short runs.
3) Barefoot running is a huge help. I don't know what the weather is liek where you are, but if you can get onto a grass field and jog around it will help immensely, with form and with strength. Start at 15min after a run or whenever suits you best and try it about 2 times per week, and again, add time and frequency slowly. I spent a year building up to 70min runs -- I may have been able to get there quicker but I didn't want to risk anything.
4) In terms of shoe durability: what happens after 200 miles? You need to remember -- by going into flats or something minimal you are no longer using EVA for insulation or shock absorbsion -- you are learning how to handle impact on your own and the shoe is there more for surface protection (glass, nasty rocks, etc) than anything else. I train full time in XC shoes and the H Streets and have poured on several times the mileage I used to get out of a single Kayano.
How am I promoting myself? Do I have some financial interest in this? Am I selling the magic non-shoe? What do I gain from all this? This is all free info about how 90% of the shoes on the wall are crap and bad for serious athletes. I'm sure the first lesson in the Business BA class is "denounce your product."
Constantly promoting yourself under various alaises can get a little tedious. You may deny that you do, but it seems fairly apparent. Believe it or not, people log onto here because they love the sport, not because they love you. Middle school kids strut around because they need the attention. Basically, that's what you're all about trackhead.
Rather than constantly boost your ego, why not do something legitimate, something phenomonal? That's when you'll deserve props. Until then, you're just another boob who can't get enough of seeing your name on the internet.
I only post under one name.
upon second thought, your post:

if some of the most ridiculous shit I've read in a while -- why would I care? Seeing my username up online? I could start my own website if I was so pathetic -- but I'm not. I turn on my coputer, open up the BroJo's page and see a question, so I offer what info I can. Sorry if that offends you or triggers feelings of insecurity. It is not intended.
No matter:
Many of us disagree with trackhead over the details of his theory, but he's generally a polite and helpful guy. And he seems to be helping a few people here. If anything belongs at "middleschool" it is your personal attacks and name calling.
Johnston
I strongly disagree: I think trackhead represents one point of view and I for one love to read about it. I think it's a mistake to go so gung ho with the minimalism, but it is some food for thought.
Trackhead, can I contact you via e-mail?
No matter:
Just get off the damn board. You are aleech who lives off the "fun" of sucking others down.
I have some advice for you: move out of your parents' basement and make something of yourself.
Until that time, you can claim only to be a lowlife and a deadbeat.
Trackhead:
1) tampons or pads?
2) top or bottom?
3) bi or gay?
The question was directed to trackhead so if you don't want to read it or if you don't agree then shut the f___k up! Why do some of you have to cut down others?
I'm touched that you know me so well
Trackhead,
I always enjoy your opinions even if I'm not brave enough to wear the H street. Thank you for your thoughts. It amazes me that individuals can write some comments and not get banned and then for no obvious reason threads disappear. Ignore the assholes.
Trackhead, to repeat, can I contact you via e-mail?
sure thing
btw -- that last comment was to no matter

Look, I love a good trackhead roast as much as anyone, damn minimalists and their logic and all, but this post is just way out of line. I can personally attest that trackhead does NOT live with his parents. The man works full time, trains full time and goes to school full time. And how is he sucking others down? Give me one post of his where he is "sucking others down."
Jesus H christ, you people make me sick. And you wonder why I almost always post is jest. I'm the one who is having fun at others expense, not trackhead. Bash me, I live with my mother.
Birng it on kids. Lets take all this pent up anger and direct it towards me. Here I am! Lets just get it all out so we can go have a pint and a laugh about it. You can vent all your frustration about your tiny little dick right here. From you guys, I can take it. I'll even give you a hug and a cookie after.
Boy, dont I feel stupid now. Oh well, nothing new. Just another day in the life of Senior Sarcasm. Maybe my mom will make me pancakes........Mmmmmmmmmmmm, I love pancakes.
You guys are assholes. If you dont want to listen, dont click on the thread. Honestly, are you all still in middle school?
