The one that peeves me the most is when the announcer declares how clutch the 60% free throw shooter is down the stretch in tight games. Well maybe if the shooter weren't bricking all his previous free throws the game wouldn't be so tight.

Absolutely worst is the midwestern "do what?" response.

synergies
Really? That's news to me. I would've thought that synergy could only be singular. I guess businessmen have never been good with grammar so why start now.
That's why I put that down. They say "synergies" all the time.
Another midwestern (or at least Indiana) thing..
"My car needs fixed". Or, "my lawn needs mowed". WTF? How much harder is it to say "My lawn needs TO BE mowed". Sheesh.
Diva may have Italian origins but since vh1 discovered it, even christina aguilera is a freakin diva... give me a break
Can someone explain "do what" or use it in a sentence? I don't know what you're talking about. I know I've heard "the what", which is definitely annoying.
adding:
any-hoo
the overuse of the word "hero" after 9/11

I haven't heard that in Michigan either...anyone else?
"PIN number"
--think about it for a second
why can't they say 'fixing' or 'mowing'?
same amount of words (for the argument of laziness), makes a lot more sense
I was hoping Zola Budd would move to the USA then both she and Colleen DeReuck can put themselves down as African-Americans.
We have neighbors who had grandparents that came over from Spain. They are Hispanic and considered a minority. What is that? I'm Polish and started my doctorate, wouldn't I be a minority?
Love how kids use the term "shotgun" Shotgun used to refer to the passenger seat, where everyone wanted to sit. Now kids are calling "shotgun the fries". What is that?

That IS workable as it's own phrase, but people use it when they really meant to say "I couldn't care less", or it doesn't matter.
I hate it when people use "it's (contraction for it is)" when they should use the possessive "its."
"Just calling to touch base"
"Can I have another cheeseburger"

Selling like hotcakes - have hotcakes ever sold well?
Dude, I know that sounds funny.....but go to a busy intersection in the a.m. or on a college campus...set up a table and makes some flapjacks or whatever you want to call them.....I promise, you will not be able to stop selling them until you run out of ingredients......its true.
And in the desert, a glass of water would be a hot commodity. I used to work at McDonald's eons ago, and the hotcakes were one of the worst-selling items - even though they are the best thing McDonald's sells in my opinion.
"fixing" as in "I'm fixin' to go get something to eat." I hate that.
Native American.
What's up wit dat? I'm a native American, myself. Why don't they use something more accurate, like "Indian".
Look no further, these examples are why America is turning into a worthless/windless country. The masses want to talk like and act like idiots. By 2020 we will no longer be the world dominant power, it will be China followed by the USA and a close Japan, maybe even an ever evolving India. If you care what happens to this country start teaching your children (0-5 years old, after that corporate and idiot America-no, not Green Day- will have them under control) now before it is to late.

You nailed me. I always watch for that, but not this time.
When people pluralize things that should not be pluralized. Or show possession, or whatever, when it shouldnt be used. Example:
"I went down to Wal-Mart's and got this new TV."
Its mostly the rednecks that say this. That and turnaround.
"This guy come up to me and turnaround gave me 5 bucks."

I consider myself pretty red and I've never heard the "turnaround" thing.
