He's one of the ugliest runners I've ever seen. Obviously one of the best HS runners ever also.

But Tinman isn't personally coaching the whole Loudon Valley team, just Hunter. And the team itself has gotten exceptionally better over the past three years. Not at all a shot at Tinman; just an acknowledgement of good coaching.
And you think the Hunters are not heavily influenced by tinman??? You do know that he has also been her coach for some time now?
Holy reading comprehension fail.

How does a 4:00.7 1600m split w/ people to pull you along the whole way translate to a 3:55 for the mile? In any situation?
It doesn't.
I'm curious as to what he can do in an 800m. That will determine how deep into the mid to low 3:50s he can get. We know he has the strength.
Tinman started advising Joan Hunter for the Loudon Valley team BEFORE he started directly coaching Drew Hunter.
Like someone else mentioned earlier in the thread, the fact that Loudoun Valley won this race, even with Drew Hunter being insane, is such a sea change for that school. I say this as a graduate from them.
My senior year, I was the fastest kid on the team, and I could only run a 17:50 5K. And I was the FASTEST! Our coach really didn't know what she was doing, to be honest.
So it's staggering to not only see such a phenom as Drew come out of my old school, but to actually have the whole team win the relay! I mean, they have to have at least decent runners throughout. I saw that the 400M runner ran a 49. I don't think anyone was CLOSE to that when I was there.

4:00.7 translated roughly
Add .3 to negate the rolling start. Add .2 for electronic/FAT timing. Add 1.4 for 1600 to mile conversion
Time for mile would be 4:02.6, roughly
The college relays were loaded with sub-4 guys. How many went sub-4?How many went 4:00 with a 56 opener? Webb's best split in two appearances was 3:59. Penn is slow as mud, usually because of wind.
I hope Ventolin can give us some predictions on how fast Hunter could ultimately run.

Thank you.

Clearly with better pacing and rabbits and using these lines of fit ...
1:47.6 / 47.2 --> 3:52.1
1:48.2 / 47.5 --> 3:53.3
1:48.8 / 47.8 --> 3:54.5
1:49.4 / 48.1 --> 3:55.7
... he could go much faster.
he split faster than Kidder and Bile, I think they ran 4:01's

Stops to tie shoe
Stops to read newspaper
Stops to shine baton
Runs partially backwards
Or falls.
Anyone have a link to a race video where you can watch for free?

Yeah. It's part of the plan to curb the popularity of the sport with the larger public since it has risen to dangerously high levels.
Possible sick double coming up for Hunter this weekend!!! Keep your eye out, he'll probably be in a couple individual events at Dogwood Track Classic.
Just watched it on MileSplit

What does everyone think about Jack Salisbury's late race tactic of slowing down and allowing Drew to catch him and then make the attempt to outkick the GOAT(Drew)?
