Ndiku goes down! he has 800m to make up 7m
Koech 1, Birmingham 2. Ndiku 6th ish.
6:56 with 400m to go
Iguider pulling away, Koech and Ndiku now 2-3. Chelimo holding 4th.
Quick assessment, Emanuel in 5th crossed the line at 7:53. So Levins, Farrell seem safe to qualify.
Ndiku 5th, but advances on time.
good recovery there from Ndiku, and nice to see Emmanuel going through in 4th.
Iguider v Kejelcha in the final I reckon!
1 277 Abdalaati Iguider MAR 7:51.65 Q
2 267 Isiah Kiplangat Koech KEN 7:52.64 Q
3 375 Paul Kipkemoi Chelimo USA 7:53.00 Q
4 213 Lee Emanuel GBR 7:53.18 Q SB
5 270 Caleb Mwangangi Ndiku KEN 7:53.21
6 195 Yenew Alamirew ETH 7:53.65
7 141 Mohammed Ahmed CAN 7:53.66
8 107 Collis Birmingham AUS 7:54.51 SB
9 186 VÃctor GarcÃa ESP 8:25.62
Correcting myself. Farrell is out 7:59. Robinson is safe (7:53), Levins will be tight (7:54)
time qualifiers Robinson from 1st heat, Ndiku, Alamirew, and Ahmed from 2nd.

please enlighten me wrote:what does, "55 last 400m, most of it coming from a 27" last lap." mean?
couldn't it be 28, 27 to make 55 seconds? i.e. or possibly 27.9, 27.5? that's pretty much the same?
Probably right. Watching the video, Kejelcha pulled away hard on the last lap; it looked more dramatic than it really was. It was probably him maintaining and everyone else cruising.
64.76 first lap led by Emanuel, and then Koech rotated through to the front.
2:09.95. 800m
You can still change picks in contest until 4:55 eastern.
Martinez made it automatically in 1500.
Cam Levins didn't make final but said this is the best he's closed all indoor season. He missed a lot of time in the fall but mechanically said he's good now.
Two Ethiopians and Martinez qualify from the 1st women's 1500 m heat. Plis, Lagat and Arafi next with times around 4:10.
Hassan goes through easily. Going to be very tough for non-Africans in the final, can't see Martinez getting a medal?
Hassan, Tsegay, Urbanik. Duncan 4th advances on time together with Plis and Lagat from the 1st heat.
Men's 800 heats. Only the winner from each heat + three best times go through.

Brutal qualifying conditions!
Smail won the very slow (1:52) 1st heat.
First heat went 1:52 so that is good for Berian.
Boris Berian has entered the track and he has shaved his head. The dreds are gone.
