Is there any way to watch without ESPN? I don't have it and now I can't see it.
I'm guessing there isn't, but I thought I'd ask.
Is it typically uploaded elsewhere after?
If not, I need someone basically to narrate the women's 5k for me. Thx -
can you buy tickets at the gate? i may want to watch just 3000m and get there 5pm.
-
I thought this was supposed to be on USATF.tv for the entire Friday events. I'm not getting any stream there.
-
Never mind. I see this is the NCAA thread.
-
can you post the link for teh stream? thanks..
-
I live in Tokyo and have no cable provider for ESPN 3 here. I cut that cord long ago..
any links would be great. Thanks! -
The women's pentathlon was crazy. NCAA Leader Akela Jones fell onthe last hurdle in the 60mh. She made up for it by jumping the high HJ in NCAA history (Total not just in the multi). She then had the 10th best LJ in NCAA history. She wasn't going to win but likely would have been 2nd or 3rd but she dropped out of the 800 250 meters in.
In her absence, Kendall Williams won in a new NCAA record. -
can you give me your cable provider password and username? Because the link you provided is asking me for your log in information.... FYI. thanks

What an athlete - 6'6" 22+ feet in one day is pretty impressive.
On an odder note, from her Bio at KSU:
Born April 22, 1995...daughter of Marlene Hall...has five siblings, John, Jah, Jonathan, Ioka Jones and Irecka Louis...studying political science.
John and Jonathan? -
wow, that's crazy. what were those heat # 2 guys thinking? they knew what time they needed to get the 2 spots.
at least people were running to win versus for time i guess -
Stoked for James! Nice interview. Ran with him (and learned from the great Rojo) at a Cornell youth XC camp in 2011.
I was pretty surprised the second heat let the pace go so slow...do all milers really think of themselves as kickers? -

Yes. All milers think they can kick. In reality, some of them realize even if they can't kick they aren't good enough to lead and have much of a chance.

'So it's official. ALl milers are stupid. I'm so tired of every miler thinking he can kick.
The first heat of the men's mile goes out in 2:12 and yet it was heat #1 - not heat #2 that ended up with the 2 time qualifiers for the final.
Results.

Here is an audio only interview with Akela Jones. I thought I'd be talking to a distraught person as she just dropped out of the 800 in the multi. Instead, she was very upbeat. She said she thought she proved herself to be a champion after her hurdle fall.
When I asked her what happened in the 800, she said her body was telling her it had done enough.
Interview is here:

Having a disastrous first event and a NM in final event and thus placing absolutely nowhere is "proving you're a champion".
I dread to think what Daley Thompson would make of this performance/interview.
What's a potentially world class athlete like this doing just dropping out of the 800m because "I just felt like I'd had enough for the day"?
"I just felt like it was time to close it down [....] it was just too much emotions and I just felt I had to listen to my body, it was a little tired."
Is this a national championship meet or what?! -

I know. I sent that link to people who want to watch it in the US
I can't see it either get over yourself -
My first "Larryism" of the meet:
"if you're a coach, that's an 'OMG'"
- talking about the big white OSU sprinter in the 60 that let up at the line, missing an auto qualifier by .001. -
then why did you post the espn link when it requires your password and login, doofus?!
when people ask for a link, they are not asking for your password or log in so dont give that link.... duh
