One of the responses to the guy looking for PEDs suggested he try NAC (N-acetyl L-cysteine). It was explained that it acts as a precursor to production of the antioxidant glutathione. (More precisely, presence of cysteine is the limiting factor in the production of glutathione, as it's the least common of the 3 amino acids necessary to form glutathione.) Not mentioned is that glutathione is necessary for fructosamine 3-kinase to remove Amidori products (lightly glycated sugars) from tissues. At least, that was the impression I was under. De-glycating ones tissues can have cosmetic effects (e.g. make the skin look younger). I seek this de-glycation for cosmetic purposes.
Alarmingly, the response about NAC said that taking NAC does more than just help make glutathione, indicating a performance enhancement. Is this true??? Does NAC act as a PED???
I am an amateur hobbyjogger, but I take NAC. Am I a doper???
Bump. I want to know if NAC is a PED or not.
