Obama makes a joke of Scalia's death and he didn't attend the funeral. He laughed with Democrat Governors about Scalia's passing.

probably won't happen - it's just a trial balloon meant to try to splinter the GOP.
Wow, it's amazing to see the indifference of some people. But do you remember the Bush Derangement Syndrome from 2000-2008?
Now, all the Democrats are cool as a cucumber, even in the face of the death of a very powerful World Figure.

I'm gonna predict Sri Srinivasan will get the nod. The Senate approved him 97-0 for the appellate court.

Bump (fingers crossed).
so some conservatives on lrc have insisted Obama will select a radical lefty - you still out there? You still think he will nominate a radical?
conservatives have such a warped view of what BHO is.
In other news: Antonin Scalia is still dead.
Your pick is still looking good with the Times having an article on his ancestral village in India today.

You say that like its surprising the overwhelming majority of Supreme Court Justices have been white males.

The Republican senate will never go for it. Republicans are agains white males. Their POTUS candidates included two Latinos, a black man, a woman...a white guy can't catch a break with the GOP nowadays.
There have been 112 Supreme Court Justices, 108 have been men, of the 108 men 106 were White men, Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas were the only blacks to serve on the Supreme Court, no surprise, just the norm.

Garland has been praised from all sides in the past and now the Senate Republican leadership is refusing to even consider him. Of course, if Garland steps down on protracted non-consideration, Srinavasan or another might be nominated. It is ludicrous to say that this moderate is not qualified or that the Senate should not consider nominees in the final year of an administration. After all, Justice Kennedy was approved in 1988 in the last year of Reagan's administration by a democratic Senate, including Joe Biden.
