The answer is to get rid of the distance events.
The time schedule for the events covered on TV covered 1 hour and 47 minutes. Of that time, there were two breaks of 30 minutes between the women's 300 and 60m hurdles and between the 60m hurdles and the men's 60m, and that time period covered the two 3000m events and the time around them. And there was another 17 minutes of distance only action after the men's 60m. So, almost 75% of the time for the TV broadcast was distance crap.
NOBODY GIVES A DAMN ABOUT DISTANCE CRAP. My wife, who was a varsity D1 tennis player and does not run (like the majority of Americans), watches NFL football, pro basketball, tennis, and sprints and hurdles.....but immediately changes the channel if distance running comes on for even 30 seconds.
I recorded the whole broadcast, and we watched the men's and women's 300 and 60, 60m hurdles, shot, and Jen Suhr....and that took a whopping 10 minutes or so. There are way too many alternatives to getting bored by distance crap, and nobody who is not a distance runner is going to put up with it.
Thank you for your input.
