How can FL coverage be this bad in 2015?

No other sport would let this crap be broadcasted. Truly shameful and embarrassing for the sport of cross country.

Major fail for Foot Locker.

It was absolutely pathetic just like the NCAA coverage. LetsRun should do an article about this. This isn't the first year coverage was horrible. Yet nobody says anything about it.

They need to take lessons from the WCC. Their conference videos are quite good.

This was the worst coverage that I've seen from them.

Did someone bothered to look through the cameras after they positioned them ? If they did they might have known you could not see the course from most of the positions. The AV squad from Scarsdale Middle School in Scarsdale NY could have done a better job.

Girls race wasn't terrible. Definitely downhill in the boys race

They lost the feed from the gator with a few minutes left in the girls race and never got it back for the boys race, hence all the bad camera angles from the stationary cameras where we got to see a bunch of people standing around until the runners came by. This is the second year in row that this happened at FL. Inexcusable. This would never happen at NXN. For Nike, the video is one of the most important elements of the race, as they use it for marketing purposes. Every inch of that course is covered with snow fencing and flags that show the swoosh in the background of every frame of video. They also have almost an hour and half between races to make sure that if anything goes wrong they have time to fix it. They also have backup equipment available to use if anything goes wrong with the primary equipment. And they do it in rainy and wet conditions, not in the ideal weather of San Diego. Just better planning and execution on Nike's part.

Too bad.... I watched it last year and thought the exact same thing, then tried to watch the video they posted to their site. The quality on both was the absolute worst. I could barely even tell what region the runner was from. How is it too much to ask to upload at least a 720p quality video after the race?

The problems go deeper than that. If you're going to have crappy resolution and have camaras far from action (or not even showing the race), then maybe you should have the regions have different color shirts/shorts so we can tell which blur is on which team. Small pastel color changes on the shoulders of the singlets was pointless and all the shorts were the same color.

This was so piss poor, I was getting MAD watching it. I had a young'un from my old high school in the race and I had no idea where he was even when he WAS on screen.

This sport is easily the most difficult to cover, however, FL once again dropped the ball with their video work. The way the guy's race turned out, they would have needed two gators with working cameras to cover the lead runner and the thin chase pack. The other difficulty is the course. The FL course has tradition and that tradition and it's layout make it extremely difficult to cover by a moving lead vehicle. Nike's new course made it much easier to create a video lane for much of the race and allows for them to drop back from the lead runners and then speed up and refocus on the front - something impossible to do with most courses when the lead camera is mobile and on the actual course.

Agaoin FL has sucky pictures by high school coaches. Why don't they use the kids from the high school photography classes next time.
