Wasn't Rono 287th in 1978?: )

Helps when you're 15 years older than your competition

Rono was a GREAT runner but he was a grown man running against much younger competition for t he most part. That seems like a rather unfair advantage. Can you imagine if Galen Rupp was allowed to run for Oregon in his mid to late 20's? How much would Galen dominatr NCAA compeition?
Rupp WAS allowed to compete in the NCAA at 28. I didn't say he IS, because he f'd up any chance of being the NCAA GOAT by burning elegibility while young and not in his prime. Most of you posters were/are foolish enough to do the same. Admittedly y'all would not have been thew greatest even at you prime, but Rupp would have been - or would currently, actually, as he is at his prime now.
Bottom line:
Everyone who uses any NCAA elegibility makes the decision to do so and when to do so. Those of you moaning about collegiate ages, you could do the same.
Sour Grapes!
For a 25 year old, Ches is great. But he's generally racing guys much younger. That can't even be argued.
Henry Rono is the greatest collegiate distance runner.
