Leonard is a classic example of a guy who was so underrated that he has become overrated. Really, really good player but he is not on the level of the other 3 (or Durant and maybe boogie cousins). He is an awesome defensive player but his offensive game is far from dominant. Those other guys can completely take games over.
The impact of defense is dramatically underrated. Case in point - Folks actually took Harden seriously in MVP race last year.
Here are 2 facts for you to ponder:
On Jan 25 Spurs played Warriors. Curry scored 37 points in total. Of those 37 exactly 5 were scored while Leonard was on him. Leonard was covering Curry for most of the 3 quarters in which he played.
On Jan 30 Spurs played Cavs. Lebron scored 29 points in total. Of those 29 exactly ZERO were scored while Leonard was on him. Leonard was covering Lebron for most of the game.
Do the math. Leonard is most definitely NOT overrated.
And Durant? Are you kidding me? His defense is pathetic. And when Leonard guards him he becomes a non-factor. Leonard over Durant. And it really isn't close.
