Victoria would dominate ncaa's. Colorado is no match for the Vikes. Guelph would be 2nd or 3rd at ncaa's with sure. Hendricks is a 28min 10k guy who would make a mockery of Cheserek any day of the week. Oh Canada. The Guelph women would challenge for the all time best team score record and inglis would win handily judging by her sub 20 solo 6k effort as she cruised to beat 407 1500m runner Gabrielle Stafford who would be 2nd at ncaa's as will.
Hendrix could run 26min if he would just move his godamn arms in the proper direction.
The Guelph men established a new legacy this year, on the track:

Clarification.
The men won nine in a row, before finishing second to Victoria this year. And the Guelph women now have 11 in a row after winning this year.
Victoria has a long history of running well in the CI's and the former name CIAU, however, only had four previous wins, all in a row during the '90s - the Victoria women have won a few more championships (nine) than the men.
The Guelph men had a string of four consecutive wins in the early 2000s as well.
What's Guelph like as a place to study? I've met a few people from there on occasion. It's nice?

7/10...
The Ches thing was a bit much.
I've been really wanting Guelph to get beat for a long time. Despite my personal feelings, their depth is spectacular as far as Canadian teams go. I'm sure there have been years where their 6 through 10 runners could have finished 2nd or 3rd as their own team on both the mens and womens sides. They get these great (in Canadian terms) recruiting classes because a kid's desire to be part of a winning dynasty blinds their judgement. Why go to a school just to run on the development squad and get red-shirted for +3 years? There are a bunch of schools where a 34 or 35min 10k will get you on the varsity cross team. Your team won't win anything but at least you will get to race every year!
Go Vikes! Awesome work boys!
Way to go Vikes! Literally nobody predicted them to win. This is the CIS version of the Miracle on Dirt. And, with only one running graduating, they look poised to make a another run at the title next year.
Whats more crazy is that the coaches had a motion on Gender equity in xc, and it was voted down 13-7 with 3 abstained. SO yeah you heard that folks, XC coaches in Canada voted down gender equity!

Coaches do a great recruiting speech, plus the place has a history of turning mediocre high school runners into top level talent (Coolsaet most notably).
Every kid walks out of the door after their visit thinking that that's gonna be them. And it might be, but they might also end up being one of the many who gets spit out the other end. Like every high caliber program, many examples of those kids. But no one wants to think that could be them.

They aren't turning mediocre hs runners into top level talent any more, haven't for many years. What they have done in recent years is take the fastest Junior 5,000m women Ontario has ever seen in Yungblut and Petrick and, well you can check for those names in the 2015 cis xc results.

Did you not read my full post? Kids sign up to go to Guelph (when it may not be the right choice for them) because they believe they are a diamond in the rough that will be get polished there. What they don't see is that they might get chewed up and spat out the other side.
It's indisputable that many pretty average HS kids get transformed into All-Canadians there. They get better caliber recruits now, but still most are not of the caliber to make an immediate impact on the team. Rarely does more than 1 rookie feature on the champs squad.
I attended Guelph in the early 80's. Beautiful place, lots of nice areas for running. Lovely girls...

Ok, we can throw one or two names out there, but that doesn't mean that their experience is entirely representative of the Guelph experience. Plus you might end up eating your words in a couple years...
And people talk about this burnout/chewed up and spat out metaphor as if it happens more than it should at Guelph just because they finished a close second at Canadian nationals instead of destroying everyone this year. It doesn't happen THAT much, and even if it did, why is it unusual? Have you ever heard of Wisconsin?
Saying these things takes away from the credit the Vikes deserve. Congrats to them on a great race!
To state Guelph would have won NCAAs is a bit much. I have watched them for the past decade-plus and this is the weakest team they have had. I would say, however, about 2 years ago they were extraordinary and likely would have medalled at NCAAs....Is Guelph the best program? Certainly not for everyone. I have seen at least a half dozen HS studs go there and crash and burn. But on the flip-side, every team has its ups and downs, and Guelph's program is definitely very good (for XC, track less so)...one thing that is distressing, is that they ran Petrick this weekend even though word from several sources is that she is really injured. Any coach who does that to "keep the dynasty going" needs to look in the mirror....last thing, Guelph is a great town and very nice. And the girls are indeed pretty in those parts.

You know you are good when it's news that you lost for the first time in a decade. Guelph is a great program. They lost to another great program, and got a silver this year. No big deal.
The team is better suited for men/boys.
The coaches don't quite "get" (understand) women.
They need a high level female coach.

Agree with the first two.
There are male coaches who do a great job developing female athletes.

I don't think that is true. I think many people thought the Vikes top 3 were the best trio, maybe 4 deep. Their #5 came through for the win. From memory, Vikes were 4,5,8,10,42. Guelph; 1,13,17,22, 27.
