Just wanted to put a good word in for my friend, Greg Price of Troy U. He's a very humble guy. When I interviewed him for my book Born To Run, I was intending on making the book mostly about him. But he told me "Chris, I'm just an ordinary man who runs over 20 miles a day with shattered knees. Everything I know about running I learned from the Tarahumara indians of Mexico. You really need to make the book about them."
I owe a lot of my success to Dr. Price.
Is this the same Greg Price that I met at a Harvard fundraising event? If so he really is larger than life and humble, he pointed out Brady to me and said we should give the Michigan kid a chance. The rest is history.
Many of you probably do not know that Good Will Hunting is based on him as Damon and Affleck were tight with him. For awhile it was Affleck JLo and Greg, we used to call them GreBenifer, then Greg dumped them.
It's gotta be the same guy
It appears that mats are used in races merely for appearance sake and that RDs are not interested in reviewing data from the mats which could be done automatically by running the data through a simple computer program. Its just for show, folks.

Has anyone contacted the Troy Messenger, told them about this thread, and let them know the integrity of their reporting is being questioned?
Their reporting might not be that bad. They're reporting what he told them. Don't know that they need to verify every claim about somebody's recreational activities for a little fluff piece.
btw, it's possible that he got a doctorate in the past year or two, which would explain some of the Dr/Mr mixing. A lot of University staff will get a doctorate after working awhile, usually not the serious PhD of a faculty member, but it must help them somehow. Definitely skeptical of the doctorate and the Harvard MLA based on his other fantasies, but those are more likely than the running stories.
He might also legitimately be good at his job.
And maybe he did play some college tennis.
But the stories of Bob Kennedy and Olympics and being interviewed for Born to Run and the 20+ miles a day and the records....

+1
I am rather famous myself, but to humble to discuss this here. I won't reveal who I am - let's just say I am, together with Pricey, among the top-2 ultrarunners of this millenium.
I am also one of the best surfers, kayakers, marathoners, und tennis stars, but could never keep up with Pricey's tennis.
So stop trying to make fun of him!
No. Stop doubting him. I deal with this in business and on football. Most people are not feet and they do not understand greatness. This is why successful people tend to gravitate to each other. Why beautiful people get together.
Most if you skinny loser runners are not even great at running so you knock those that are on this board. I've seen it I've lurked here for years as you knock Alan Webbs training and heart, ridicule Paula's head bobbing, and vilify African runners. Lately it has got out of hand and you are like a pack of mongrel dogs scurrying from one restaurant trash can to another looking for scraps as you try to pick off hobby joggers like Rossi and this MCM Price. But you are like starving wolves only hunting the weakest sickest stragglers because you are weak yourselves and cowardly and mean as a result. You should all be ashamed.
Until you have achieved greatness then you should just be quiet and leave great people like Greg alone.
And please don't reply by talking about your sub 16 5k and making $200k. I've run faster and made considerably more. The door to the great club is wide open just climb the mountain and we'll welcome you in, I don't decency to see any of you soon.
And you darn right I wrote feet because that is code for great in the great club

Bob, "feet" is the least of your worries.
Rather than doing things much more important I got sucked in by Troy Pricey, no offense intended to MCM Price, and searched for his name in any of the results from the Iron Horse ultras that take place in Florida ("...running with an IV"). Obviously, I came up with a goose egg but the results only go back to 2006. Anyone know how long the race has been going on?
I do know quite a few Troy State running alum. I think I might ping them for some background info.

I did the same thing! I didn't see his name under individual finishers..maybe he was part of a relay team?
Either way, I heard back from MCM about MCM Price this morning, thanking me for alerting me to this and they are continuing to investigate. What this means, I have no idea? Maybe they are waiting to hear back from him?

I did.
No reply.

That first sentence about the "20 plus miles that Greg Price runs everyday" sounds like your typical small town paper reporting what a person has said incorrectly. My guess is that he said he runs 20+ mile long runs and they misinterpreted that as meaning everyday - classic non-runner mistake that .
As for the wild tales told later, that's just amazingly poor reporting. I mean, do they publish everyone they interview word for word without question? My high school paper was better than that.
The fact that they would publish this article in it's entirety without fact checking things that are easily fact checked says a lot about the reporters. It says they know nothing about the sport and are lazy "journalists."

True.
I've had some newspaper and magazine articles on me -- professional (technical) stuff not running -- and it's amazing how much they get wrong (or make up). I did have one magazine writer who went back and forth with me on multiple drafts of the story and allowed me to clarify things.
I'm not too hard on this reporter, but she should have at least asked some follow-up questions: "almost made the Olympics? Were you running for Troy? Were you All-American? Which races did you win?". If I was interviewing someone who was world-class in tiddlywinks, which I know nothing about, I'd be curious enough to ask about what tournaments and honors they won.

Well said.
To those trying to find Troy Price in ultra results, someone found Troy Price in the MCM under name William Price. Try entering that in your ultra marathon searches, please. I'm curious.

Did a "Find" using my browser for all years of results for Iron Horse with last name of "Price". Nothing.
Still waiting to hear from MCM Price on resolution other than 2015, which he has been dq'd from.
Hi there. My name is Chris Hansen. You may know me from the famous television series, To Catch a Predator.
You may wonder just how we entrap all those low-life scumbags before ambushing them. Well, I can tell you it takes some sophisticated algorithms and high-tech computer forensics. Did I develop them? Hell no! I'm just a good-looking TV host.
No, the real brains behind our show is Dr. Greg Price of Troy. That's Troy Alabama, not the ancient city in Turkey - although Dr. Price could easily be mistaken for a heroic figure straight out of Greek mythology. His pervert-detection programs have infiltrated every corner of the internet, methodically sniffing out the predators who wish to bring your children harm.
So perverts, beware. That underage kid you think you're talking to on the web? It might actually be one of Greg Price's diddler bots, methodically tracking you down. Greg Price is watching you. Through your webcam. Better run.

Greg "Troy" Price has had plenty of time to come on here and set the record straight if we are in error......plenty of time.
Could Greg Price be GregTR from the Rossi thread? He said that he worked in IT, or some related field.
Actually, scratch that... if GregTR were actually Greg Price, he would have claimed to be an astronaut.
Ladies and Gentleman,
We have an update.
Our MCM Cheater, Mr. Gregory Price has been booted from the 2016 Boston Marathon entrant list.
http://registration.baa.org/2016/cf/Public/iframe_EntryLists.cfm
Search by last name "Price".
He is gone.
Although his only DQ has been from the 2015 MCM, so far, Boston has done the right thing and taken him out of the 2016 run based upon his 2014 shenanigans.
