Will they only allow the black runners pass?
Do they realize what they are up against if they get between a runner with less than a mile to the finish? It's going to be a bunch of tired people crying and laying on the ground in dehydration and exhaustion. Providing the worst possible image the "Black Lives Matter" group could ever want to bring a long change. They will look literally like bullies and anarchist while the runners will look like jews coming out of a concentration camp. If they want to bring about change this will only bring less Americans siding with their cause.
This. What does running have to do with racism?? Running is one of the things that truly brings together ALL races. If they arrive in time for the elite runners they will be impeding AFRICAN runners who are actually trying to work hard and support their families. This makes me feel sick.

I'm black. You don't like me? Please explain why.
I'm afraid you don't come across as very educated with an absurd statement like that.
100% of blacks in BLM have fancy cell phones
25% have college degrees
20% know difference between effect and affect
100% know who Beyoncé is
3% know who Alexander Hamilton was

Huh? What does the Democratic Party have to do with this? There is no logic here. Just as there is no logic by BLM disrupting the Marathon, there is no logic having some GOP extremist trying to blame a fringe group's actions on an entire political party. That's the equivalent of me saying that you speak for the entire GOP. You certainly don't speak for me.
It's still sad to think that a more effective message can't be delivered by BLM instead blocking people attaining their life's dream.
What does this have to do with the Democratic Party? A lot. The Dems have closely identified themselves with these fringe lunatics who do nothing productive and whose sole purpose is to stir up trouble. Bernie Sanders shrinks like a little girl at his own rally when a group of BLM activists start screaming at him because GOD FORBID you offend them. Love her or hate her, at least Hillary had enough balls to stand up to the rabble rousers when they demanded to know what she's going to "do" for them. Obama publicly invites Ahmed the clock boy to the White House even though it's becoming increasingly clear that the whole situation was a hoax orchestrated by his family (and please don't start with the "Waaah how do you know it was a hoax?" posts. Read about the family's history for yourself). And then of course we get to witness Obama's "amnesty" program for "undocumented" permanent visitors to the US--meanwhile, foreigners who go through the proper legalization process get shafted by being stuck on waiting lists that go on for years and years.
Law-abiding American citizens who are trying to pay the rent, put their kids through college, and lead productive lives while getting taxed to the max are SICK of being told that THEY are what's wrong with the entire world. The fact is, people vote based on emotion. And unless the Dems wise up to this and start distancing themselves from the fringe, they will experience a backlash at the polls. Maybe as a first step they should stop publicly mocking Trump and figure out what it is about his message that is actually resonating with some voters.
P.S. Your knee jerk reaction to my original post suggests you think I am a Republican. I am not--I am a lifelong Democrat who is sick of the direction the party has been taking.

You have to be realistic. Groups like this do far more to hurt the Democratic Party than help it. It doesn't even matter whether the Democratic Party implicitly or overtly supports the group. Public perception is all that matters.

So in other words, in order to be a "true" Democrat, I must pay lip service to every uber-liberal "cause," no matter how misguided, ridiculous, or unjust. Just like the Tea Party philosophy--you can't be a true "Republican" unless you adamantly oppose gay marriage, women's rights, etc.
Wow. What an eff-ed up country we are becoming

I heard about this while out with my training group running this morning. For all the people trying to make this a GOP/Democrat issue, just stop. It's a bunch of idiots out there that are planning on doing this. The only thing they'll accomplish is to make people hate their movement even more. If anything, they should focus on the violence and killings in North Minneapolis where there's a lot of black on black crime. But I digress.
So the question is, how would Letsrun handle them if they try and block the course? My initial thought is if they're standing, run right through them. If they stage a die-in, just go around them.
What would you do?

Lower the shoulder and plant them on their rear. If you stand in front of a speeding train, it's your own fault, and you should expect to get hit.

Re: "right near the finish" - I am almost certain the protest is not designed to impede the runners. If that was the plan, the protest group would never announce it ahead of time and in which case they would be denied a protest permit. The negative comments about Black people is unnecessary, weather you agree or disagree with the purpose of the protest, protesting is and of if self is a very American act. Remember, the act of the USA becoming a nation was an act of rebellion. As runners, I know we are sensitive to anything that might affect a race, but a small city marathon is almost insignificant compared to a national political convention which have been the site of many protests. In fact, protesters have actually entered the convention sites and attempted to disrupt the convention. The point I am making is stop talking as if there is something uncivilized about these Black people protesting. Also, I understand LR is primarily a White right-wing conservative site, but you can't be so myopic in your view that you perceive these Black people as have absolutely no issues worth protesting. Perhaps if might be helpful to understand what these people are protesting about and as difficult as it might be, try to put yourself in their situation.

Too perfect.
What are you talking about? Why else would they plan to start the protest less than a block from the final stretch of the race? Here is a quote from another article:
"The group says it's planning on "shutting down" the 26.2-mile race on Oct. 4. The rally is designed to disrupt and bring awareness to recent incidents involving St. Paul police and people of color."

I agree with your point that protesting is a very American act, but when it's done in a manner that could potentially harm or hurt other people who have worked very hard for this race I don't think they're doing their movement a very good service. There are a lot more healthy ways to bring attention to your cause than halting a race and pissing off hundreds (or thousands) of people.
