Hello all, I am a 16yr old distance runner currently training for a goal 5000m race on 22nd August. I have been running 5:25 mile repeats, is this indicative of 17min pace or should I extend my goal??

Based on the limited info you provided, you should be anywhere from 16:30 - 17:30.
Target around 17:15
I cannot believe I am responding to this BS, but if you would really like to know I will give you an answer. In order to go sub 17 you would basically need to run 3.11068 miles all at 5:25 pace. So, because of this, if you have been running 5:25 mile repeats in practice, it would generally not be indicative of sub 17 pace. However, there is so much information you have left out. I think it is safe to assume the race is XC, as it will be the start of the season, which is much slower than a track. Also, you may have been doing only 2-3 repeats or 5-6 I have no idea. I also do not know how much rest you take. But, I am just gonna tell you that if you are doing these repeats on a track you have no shot. So I am going to tell you that unless right now you can do 4 x mile at that pace with like 3-4 min rest in between not on a track you have absolutely no shot even in a race scenario and need to extend your goal. Good luck though

Sorry, I didn't know what more to add. My last race was 3 months ago and I got 17:26
What other info would give you a better idea??
Apologies, if I left out too much info. I ran 4 reps, 90 second rest inbetweeen each rep
It's a track race, the last of the season.
