Hey guys, I'm gonna be a junior in hs this fall and wondering how fast I can go. When I started running my freshman year, I had never run before and was out of shape. I ran 21:40 for xc (Embarrassing, I know). I ran probably 15 mpw over the winter and ran 11:58 and 5:33 in track. That summer, I ran only about 20 mpw and ran 18:40 in cross by half way through the season before getting injured and shutting it down. I ran about 25 mpw that winter and then had a breakthrough season in track where I ran 4:59 and 10:38. This summer, I have been consistently running 40 mpw. I just ran a 3 mile (not 5k) race in 17:30 off of pure base with no speed. What do you guys think I could run this fall? My goal is sub 17. I know this is a little bit ambitious, but considering how fast I've improved (growing has had a lot to do with it), is it possible? At minimum I'd like to break 17:30. Thanks in advance!
