Thanks for doing the absolute minimum.

And it will still mean nothing.
Things that have more signatures than the petition to let nick run
-making pluto a planet
-renaming a park in Baltimore
-asking Wendy's for a veggie burger
-asking Ben & Jerry's to create "Ruth Bader Ginger" ice cream
-- Make Synchronized Figure Skating an Olympic Event
Wow, the OP is a union organizer?
Lost all credibility with me at that point.
Why should we sign this?
I like Nick, but listen closely to some of his comments. He's interested in one thing...getting as much publicity and social media hits as possible so he can enhance his brand. Remember several years ago his infatuation with Paris Hilton, the queen of branding, and like a NASCAR driver, he wanted to plaster his body with advertisements? He made a ton of money when he was with Nike and now they're the bad guy. I'm not falling for the track and field martyr BS. He's going to get more publicity from this staged event than getting beat in the preliminary rounds at the WC's and he knows it. Sign it suckers!
there is only signature that would #LetNickRun..
his own sig on the darned form!

Because those topics are drawing on a much larger demographic. You are just throwing stuff out there to be a troll.
Consider the size of the community that pays for USATF memberships. How many runners do you think register as USATF each year? I bet the 5,000 signatures is significant in that respect.

You think sychronized figure skating or a park in Baltimore have a larger demo than track? Really? If so, the sport is in serious trouble.
Plus the only signatures that really matter would be USATF members and I bet their numbers are less than 100 of those signed.
The petition is a lazy way of activism. You know it. That's why most of these petitions are useless.
I will not sign. I think USATF, though principally wrong, has a right to present their contract and the athletes have a choice to accept or refuse the contract. The greater battle should be between Brooks (other sponsors) and Nike. Not a single athlete versus an entire complex organization. Kudos to "hey everyone look at me" Nick for being an excellent PR rep for Brooks and taking a stand for athletes. In the end, sports writers, legal experts, casual sports fans, are all talking about track during a non-Olympic year. I guess we'll see how it all plays out.
This is definitely a bigger fight than just the WC's. It's more about paying track athletes more. Do they deserve more? Sure, why not.
However, there are very few people in the world that don't want to be earning more money.
Nick probably banks at least $500k a year. Probably every single poster on this board would trade lives with him in a heart-beat. A professional runner, hero to some, etc. $500k is a nice chunk of change. It's not $30 million like LBJ, and it's the minimum in most other major sports. But track isn't as high end as those other sports, they bring in billions, track is bringing in millions.
So while I like Nick and wish him the best, I just don't think anything will change going forward. And think him not running in Beijing isn't benefiting anyone.
Signed. USATF are bullies who represent n1ke, and not American athletes.
Wow topped out at 5800 and didn't change a darn thing.
So what wast he point now?
