Clayton Murphy has no reason to turn it down. He is an unsponsored, 20 year old college athlete and he now has an unbelievable opportunity to get some major international experience as he looks towards the 2016 Olympics

That's completely fair. Again, I do not mean to take anything away from Clayton and understand that he is young. At the same time, the spot is not rightfully his. And the reason the spot is open is that Nick is trying to do something that would benefit athletes in our sport to come. It would be amazing to see others stand with him and take collective action- tell USATF when something is not fair for the athletes.
Ha. Try running for a country without finding and paying your own way to international competitions. I wish Nike would fund my country.
F NIck
Based on Max Siegel response email. Nick S lied about not signing in 2013. Yes, it was an electronic exchange, but this is how things are done. So , no for me. The other thing is I do not see any of the Brooks Beast jumping in on this on social media. Because they all have there own lives to look after.
Already has 1276 signatures. After Cara Goucher signed it, it really started to catch on. Good job. To those detracting from the importance of this petition, I agree that it may seem to be a minor issue, but it represents a bigger cause. I am thankful for all that Nike has done for the sport, but I don't think USATF should be able to force people to wear Nike gear, and don't like the monopoly that Nike has over the sport.
They are not forcing the athletes to wear Nike gear. They can wear non-branded clothes, street wear, or the USA team gear. Maybe Nick should give back all that "dirty" Nike money he made over the years if he is truely against their practices.
Don't forget Nike is a truely American company practicing in a truely capitalist society. Maybe Nick would prefer living in another more socialist country.
Good points. I'm actually a big Nike fan, I just don't think Nick should be forced to wear their gear or be kicked off the team.

I mean same here. I wear a Nike singlet when I race. I just wanted to help show some community support for Nick on this one. We're up to 1,500+ and counting. Thanks everyone for all the amazing work.
Nick would have the largest audience to make his case if he actually competed at Worlds. While Nick's antics are entertaining, he would have more credibility if he actually competed. The Ninja Warrior thing....
Here's the truth. Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley (two of the greatest basketball players of all time) found a way to make things work... not compromise their sponsor (yes, Nike) while representing the US at the Olympic Games, yet Nick can't figure out that he would reach more people if he actually competed at Worlds.

No you are a union rabble rouser with no clear understanding of the USATF procedure
Plus what kind of douche puts their marathon pr on their twitter bio?
You've been promoting this crap to every major white runner on twitter and media outlets yet you've manged only to scrap together a few hundred people.
Nick shouldn't be allowed to bypass the bylawa. I donated to uSATF in your name.

Ouch. Burn. I'm just trying to help build some community support for Nick. We have 1,800+ people. I feel pretty good about how I spent some of my day.

So do I.
so, now... 2,492

45 people in. I'd think that if it hits 100, that'll bring USATF to its knees. Good luck!

Any comment, jjjjjj?
I definitely see this working

No pointing out that you don't know what it's like to work for a living. You are most likely as self aggrandizing as Nick
Inflating your own sense of importance.
I bet you'd be the first to complain if a ceo suddenly wanted to change a contract at the last minute (which is what nick wanted to do) by negotiating with the person who had no authority to change.
Seriously why post a 2:47 marathon time. It's god but not outstanding or anything.
Keep it up Dave, don't let anonymous internet cowards bring you down :)
Just about to 3,000! Really cool to see that kind of support!
Ummm....
...
...
Shouldn't this be about changing USATF's standard terms and conditions to be more fair to the athletes?
...maybe actually focus this petition/campaign on that?
"LetNickRun" makes it sound like they are not letting him run... which is misleading to say the least.
