Why do you smoke cigarettes, it does nothing for you. Stop feeding the addiction. If your gonna smoke, smoke to get high or something, not just to calm your strung out nerves.

I smoke. After I do about a 2 mile warm-up I stretch. The the gun goes off. And I smoke most of the people that I run against. Then I look at DI results and realize if I was DI athlete I wouldn't even be a factor.
Yeah man, except I don't just smoke. I toke like a fool. I dare the NCAA to drug test me. THC doesn't stay in a runner's system more than four days.
I've been smoking on and off for the last ten years. I quit for about a year, but recently began smoking again. I probably smoke about 4-8 cigs per day. I run 75-80 miles/week and am 26. I'm trying to quit because I'm in training for marathon in April and would like to break 2:40. It's a bad habit I picked up in high school, but I also enjoy it quite a bit, and I really can't notice much different in my running to be honest
Don't smoke, but was impressed by a fellow runner lighting up right after finishing the Boston Marathon. My jaw dropped. I expressed my surprise...he seemed to feel guilty about it, but I was just impressed that someone could run Boston and be a serious smoker.

i know a chick who just ran a 2:38 marathon and she smokes a pack a day and she's HOT!!!! she also drinks like a fish too. if she did not smoke, i'd be tapping that ass everyday.

I smoke Dick Pound's pole. We all need to support the USADA and smoke Pound's pole. Athletes should be given GPS tracking devices so Pound can always know where they are. In case he needs his pole smoked.

And that brings me to my next tip: don't smoke crack.
My buddy was running Boston, he ran under 2:30 and soom guy beat him and claimed to be the worlds fastest smoker.
I used to smoke 27 years ago and quit, with difficulty, after I started running. Thank goodness I looked at myself in the mirror (literally) and realized how truly ugly I looked while smoking, and totally uncool. I am quite glad that I have saved all that money and also now have the heart and lungs to allow me to run another 27 years. Working in a hospital reinforces my good feelings about this since any level of smoking causes damage. I also discovered that being married to a nonsmoker was a very high priority to me, too, and that is the greatest pleasure.
In response to the post about THC only staying in the system for 4 days. Where did you get this information? any credible sources? and whats the reasons for this? Besides the niacin pills method, i have heard lots of water does the trick, but what does being a runner do?
