A group of idiots seeking to racially cleanse a city is the sort of thing that constitutes "the news."
Daily peaceful interactions between thousands upon thousands of people do not constitute "the news."
There is no grand conspiracy. It is just that extremism makes headlines. Daily life-- though far more important over the long term-- does not.
The crime rate is dropping and has been for 20 years. By every reasonable measure, society is both safer and better integrated than it was 20 years ago.
And yet you feel like doom is impending. Why is that?
