So what's the predicted resolution with all this?
So what's the predicted resolution with all this?
As someone who has been on multiple Division I XC & Track teams (I'm NOT saying my experiences are universal, but they are relevant in this situation), I can say the things the men's team has been accused of has been present in both places I have run. The scavenger hunt and the award show are the two main points of contention in this witch hunt. In both instances, no one is FORCED to do ANYTHING. "Forcing freshman to perform acts on one another" is a ridiculous thing to accuse this team of, and I guarantee you (Leirbag [read: Douchebag]) have no insight into this matter.
Teams are strange, in particular men's teams. It is a big group of guys who latch on to each other for support, friendship, and brotherhood. Teams get comfortable with each other, to the point where they can do some stupid shit to each other and think it is funny. Sometimes it is, sometimes it is not. But these are young men who have no intention of hurting, ostracizing, or humiliating anyone. It is hard for outsiders to have the slightest peek into team culture, and then understand the overall dynamic. Both teams I've been on have demonstrated juvenile and obscene behavior, but it was never meant with malice.
Young men lack foresight. They live in the moment, doing things they think will bring about humor and a closer team dynamic (like going on a scavenger hunt around DC with the FULL UNDERSTANDING almost all the objectives are complete jokes). This is a situation where a team believed they were bonded by hard work and shared experience, but a few members of the team had ulterior motives and are recklessly using certain aspects of the team culture to damn the program, the athletes, and the coaching staff.
Read the claims. They are one-sided and without merit. The "proof" submitted will fail to hold up in any sort of actual lawful proceeding. Reserve your judgement of this program until all is said and done.

Not sure what will actually happen but as a Hoya for life, They need to make a change to move past all of this. Henner needs to go and they should press the reset button.
Best for everyone involved, the University and Henner.

So when playing the racism card came up obviously false. The blog poster tried to claim sexual assault? Sounds like a straight shooter to me
sounds to me from all these posts as if the coaching staff is guilty of nothing other than failing to account for injury prevention in some athletes transitioning from high school, but the idea that the white distance runners at Gtown are active racists would have been impossible for me to believe until I came to this website, where it appears to be the norm.
nothing like a little team bonding with a "who can get a full b0ner the quickest without looking at anything sexually exciting or closing their eyes to use their imagination" contest
My $0.02
When you accept an athletic scholarship at any school, the coaching staff becomes your best friend and your worst enemy. They want to get as much mileage out of you as possible. Most competitive DI programs are meat-grinders. It cannot work any other way. So if a scholarship athlete cannot handle the training and racing load, the staff will try to get rid of you. It is not a function of any bias other than the one of preserving the dollars and cents of the program.
This woman believes her scholarship is her right. It is not. It comes with many conditions. Just like a job - you have to appease your boss.
I have worked with (black) people just like this - they are difficult to work with, and when they get pushed around, they complain about race. I do not know why.
Maybe the definition of racism is pushing against the diffidence and intransigence that is inherent within certain cultural groups. I know for certain that White East Coast culture encourages one to, "suck it up" when the going gets tough, especially when you have a good gig. Perhaps other cultures, where not many people get these opportunities, believe that to, "suck it up" is to sellout, or hand over control.
The girl needs to acknowledge one thing - no matter what, she has no control. She is a scholarship athlete so she is owned by the staff. She might not like that feeling. That is not racism. If she doesn't like this, she will hate a regular high performance job where your employer owns you soul. "Lack of Control" "Racism".
Basically, what you just described is, life in general. And, I agree with you. Today's 'young people' culture, is controlled by overly sensitive political-leftist administrators, who wish to clamp down on any sort of behavior that might bring about exactly the sort of situation that is taking place now at GU. But, what these administrators don't understand, is that their need for control, is creating an overly 'policed' atmosphere that actually contributes to minor situations becoming excessive in terms of judgment. In other words... stop brainwashing young people into feeling like they are a 'victim' and should therefore create situations that ultimately will unjustly tarnish the record and credibility of other young people, and coaches.
Let me get this straight - an athlete cries "racism" in a situation that appears to be nothing more than a cop out to under-performance, it gets called out as such, and you come on here claiming that white distance runners are "active racists".
You are a fuq-ing POS!

based on her blog. The investigation will most likely show nothing
There is no chance that Georgetown will find anything wrong. Even with 100 witnesses and a video. They will never admit any wrongdoing. That's the way it is. Someone outside the school will have to discover what is true and false.
Hey DrinkingCoffee, why have you been on multiple Division I XC & Track teams? Have you been a cancer? Can't find stability? Have you had to leave for personal reasons and/or issues with staff and/or student athletes?
Please enlighten us why you have no legacy in the sport. Thanks.

For the record, I don't know who DrinkingCoffee is, but this post is idiotic. People do 5th years at different schools all the time. For example: Liam Boylan-Pett had an amazing 5th year at Gtown after a very successful career at Columbia. Think before you post your smarmy nonsense.

a. a day devoted to rules of conduct. Statements will be signed.
b. female will be told she can stay. Strong recommendation will be that she does not... because she will not be allowed on the team.
If she does stay she will be allowed to keep agreed upon 'ship money which will end after the fall semester.
it would seem to me that there is too much in defense of the establishment from a non Establishment site unless you are critiquing their heroes Salazar ,g town and a few others everyone else not on hallowed ground gets trampled

In this instance, the woman's claims seem baseless. She is not even alleging a specific instance of racism, other than asking, "where are the sprinters?"

So, all sprinters are black? G-Town may be short on sprinters, but how is that a racist thing?
How many issues in such a short period of time??? Seems like athletics can't handle appropriately and keep things contained. This should have been taken care of. Time for an overhaul.
