There has almost never been a time in USA history when political influence was not influenced by cronyism or financial "considerations." If you count "who knows whom," then there has never been a time in USA history when power for influence has not been a factor.

Wrong Duck. No one is perfect but almost no one is as corrupt as the Clintons. We're not just talking about rich guys supporting their favorite candidate. We're talking about companies bribing someone to make laws that directly unfairly help them. Which other candidates are charging $250k for speeches right now? This stuff should not be encouraged.

You are exactly right. 'Deserve' has nothing to do with how much we get paid. I'd caution that no one pays money without expecting some 'value' in return. Since it's pretty much accepted that Chelsea offers no value (certainly not $75K worth of value) in her ideas then where's the value to the payer coming from? Connections to Hill and Bill and the rest.
