"you have to be kidding me" you are the one way off base. Get your facts straight.
Maynard just finished year 7 at UCLA. We are not talking about a school that has no history here. This is one of the top 5 programs ever in the sport. This is like when Bama was down and the then they hired Saban and Kentucky down in basketball and hired Calipari. Coaching hires matter at every level of every sport with support or without. Maynard made some bad assistant hires but who does that fall on? Him!
Yes AD's don't support programs like they should which is the whole point of this thread. But that only means the playing field for most schools in most leagues is pretty even so it comes down to coaching.
Its obvious Curtis Fry ONCE was a good coach but he is not getting it done like he used to so why must athletes suffer because of it?
I don't know about TCU, have some decent kids, just not like they used to but they are in Texas and have had success in past but not so much lately.
Georgia Tech used to be really good with sprinters and hurdlers and yes the old head coach got tossed in jail for crimes he committed at his second job on city council but Grover was the guy who did much of the coaching of all the Olympians from McKay to Angelo Taylor to Derrick Adkins.
Oregon State fighting what demons? The AD that 30 years ago shut down the program? The only coach the Beavers have had has had 10 years to do something, anything and its clearly not gaining momentum. How is adding men going to make it better?
Boston College is in the heart of a major area for talent and despite lack of resources they have enough to be at least respectable. Did you see who they flew to ACC's to race last weekend? Some 11.5 dude in the 100 and I saw the race, he didn't get hurt, he was going for all he could go.
The deal is program's do need to be held accountable and I agree with the poster saying USTFCCCA should provide evaluations and help in process of how to hire coaches as well as how to evaluate. Don't you just pile on trying to provide more excuses for these lousy coaches.
