This Saturday I have the state meet for the 1600m 2A (Texas). This year is started off at a 4:58 (March 20th) and have since been doing interval work and a long run of 8-9 miles (averaging out to 20mpw). At regionals I ran a 4:45 with splits of (1:10, 1:14, 1:11, and 1:07) and it was really easy. Last Thursday I ran a practice run with some people from another school and ran 4:36 with splits of (1:05, 1:10, 1:10, 1:10, with some decimals adding up to 4:36). Currently the fastest time from regionals is a 4:34.5. I really feel like I can win, because I've always rose to the challenge to win! I feel like I can handle 1:07 for even splits, but my coach thinks I should just hang with the pack until the last 300 and kick to win. addition information my 800 pr is a 2:03.7
(No one is expecting me to win since my qualifying time places me 7/9)
