These are the quarter splits from my watch. I was within .25 (faster) of everyone at the finish, so these numbers should be reasonably accurate...

Dang, these kids are faster than I ever was. A LOT faster.
Guess I better start accusing them of using PEDs.
I believe first mile was a 4:22 and at the bell it was 7:43.

Not that that time is bad, but 9:00ish as a soph is not unheard of
Yeah, Craig Virgin and Bill McChesney ran that and they went on to set the AR in the 10k and 5k respectively. So, nothing to see here.
Ostberg is the real deal
Him and Fisher are going to kill at Stanford as FR
Sub 7:55 3k both of them
If everyone wasn't aware, Mikey lives with autism and it has hindered the development of some of his academic skills throughout his time in grade school.. As far as I know, he isn't signed with a major D1 program because of this.. Fair/just?
I would have guessed 2007 NON was the previous best and this was better.

Between 1970 and 1979 the fastest time the california state meet was won in was 8:44 so very impressive and 1-2 seconds off brannigans time, the most the most people who to go under 9 minutes during that race was 5 so less than half of what this race had.
While obviously the state meet can get tactical due to it being a championship it typically is the deepest field. Would you care to point out any meets that i may have missed with more impressive results?
The post on page one I tried to quote referred to the top four. I grew up in California in the 70s and really don't remember four this fast. Can you tell me which meet(s) would have been this fast up front?

Was the track recently resurfaced?
Fantastic results... This meet was 3200mt..? The Cali races in the 1970s were 2mi. So the winning time maybe worth 8:45.4 for the real distance..? _______

Yes, When the records were much slower.
The new talent has to be correspondingly faster to be "equal".

But they may be redshirted in cross, indoors, outdoors, or some combination as freshmen.

Why is the two-mile the "real distance"? Both distances are equally obscure.
Brannigan has a learning disability due to his autism (?) - so from what I've read he's having problems getting into a decent college (at least the running powerhouses anyway). I read his SATs were a problem.
So that might rule out the higher caliber colleges like Stanford or Georgetown or Ivy League.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
