I'm a 20-year-old intern and even I have more of a sense of style than that. If you don't want to drop big money on shoes, you can pick up a pair of Allen Edmonds for less than $400. But either way, unless you're a landscaper or professional athlete, please stop showing up to work in rubber soled shoes.
Long ago when I was young and stupid like you are now I spent serious money on good leather soled shoes thinking non-stupid people would notice and consider me an up and coming professional.
Over time I noticed that with the exception of some sheister executives and women trying to fuck their way to the top everyone wore footwear that was more comfortable and practical. You didn't have to spend much time doing some long presentations on a hard floor to realize those that didn't wear practical shoes were either idiots or brown-hosers.
When you're mature and a functioning adult you'll realize that getting real work done is more important to your career, and to your boss, than your "sense of style".
Good luck on your career, maybe you'll end up with a gay boss with a great sense of style that you can blow for a promotion.
