5ks are the worst. Seriously, I can't even walk down the street without tripping over some stupid 5k charity jog.

Race walk is the only one that's stupid. Because it's a competition where you intentionally limit your ability to compete.
WTF?
Color run by far, mainly because people go there because of "how fun it is", not because they want to run or walk or something.
ultra, color run, race walking, half marathon, or 26.2..
1. racing walking- idiocy why is this still a thing?
2. color run- but honestly it's not a race, it's an event or parade... innocuous
3. 26.2 relay- that actually sounds fun. I'd do one of those, it'd be a good way to get even more fast runners on the marathon course.
4. Ultras- too often the top finishers are women and old dudes... ultras are the retirement home of the distance world. Its not a race, its an excuse to spend a day speed hiking in the woods.
5. Half- I like racing that distance although I think the 10M should be where the "half" is now.
Marathons
So many runners do them who should not go near the distance
Based on the amount of respect the participants have for the sport:
1. Color Run (Worst): Not willing to do any real running or training, but want the photos for Facebook.
2. Race Walking: Afraid to do real running, not afraid to train.
3. 26.2 relay: Want all of the attention of the marathon, but not willing to do even 1/4th the work, or stand by their times.
4a. Half Marathon: Ambiguous mix, some of the same participants from the relay - want the attention but not committed enough to finish the distance - but also plenty of people who are taking their training seriously and consider this a trial run for the full distance.
4b. Ultra: Not athletic at all but at least willing to put in the training and time.
The answer is virtual races.
Can't believe they actually exist and that people pay money.
Female coach having affair with male runner. Should I report it?
Post about women banditing Brooklyn half marathon going viral on X
If Daniel's and Pfitz are outdated..then where do I look for modern training plans?
Colin Sahlman runs 1:45 and Nico Young runs 1:47 in the 800m tonight at the Desert Heat Classic
