Yeah he did, the 2nd race. Then Komen crushed Haile's WR the next week. Had Haile done ANY of the work during the race though, I doubt he'd have beaten Komen.
They were one win a piece in 96/97. In 96 Haile embarrassed himself by giving up with 200m to go and jogging home for second. That was on par with Trevor Chappells infamous underarm bowl.
