........... I bet you never passed in basketball either. (Although something tells me you were never much in any other sport.)
If you are such an emotional wreck that you can't take a paycheck (or do a friend a favor in Scott's case) and rabbit without it throwing you into an identity crisis, it is amazing you did anything in this sport and not surprising you didn't do more. "
Reply to SM,
Actually I'm not a bad team player. I served my Country as A Marine Corps Officer, Naval Aviator and Marine A-4 Attack pilot and managed to work in a couple of CISM Track World Championships in the 800M and a few USA Championship finals in between my military duties. Didn't have much opportunity to improve on my 1:46.6 which was the third race in two days with no "rabbits". As to being a good athlete, does number one in the Physical Fitness Test in the 3rd Marine Air Wing count?
As to emotional wreck. I flew 165 combat missions in Vietnam as an Attack pilot in VMA 311 and never looked back with any regrets. Later became a senior Captain for the airlines flying the B767 when I retired.
I never quit anything and still don't think a quality runner should rabbit his own event. Like I said before if a 800m guy wants to run a 1:53 for the milers, he should pace every race that day for his workout.
