Nick Symmonds hasn't been relevant in over a year. he's done. he can stick to his gum sales because his heyday is over, I'm afraid. But don't fear, he loves himself so much he won't be missed. Just ask him.
Ok, you're either and idiot or trolling.
I'm just being realistic (maybe the pessimistic side of realistic) when I said 8:18. I don't think he's "done" by any means. I just think that he's an 800 runner who already has a big drop off in his competitiveness when he goes up to the mile and that drop-off is only going to increase at 3K.
Add that to the fact that it is February and he's not someone who is generally sharp indoors anyway (plus he had injury issues last year and was fvcking around with beer miles in December). I just don't see him being at the top of his game.
If this was July and he was actually focused on training for the 3000 I'd give him sub-8 for sure. He's got that talent level. But it's February and he's an 800 runner. Sub-8:10 if he had the race of his life and if he shoots for 8:00 and the wheels come off, it could get embarrassing, but he'd probably DNF before he ran 8:45.
Be honest, do you think he will make another USA team? And let's say somehow he does, you think he will make a final? His best days are long gone. Which is why he is trying to stay relevant by (kinda) writing books, creating run gum, running in beer miles, and fighting with USAT&F. He just looks desperate to me.
