Guessing that Kevin Kemmerle was bitter. A couple of nice wins taken away by a former elite just happening to show up for the race.
Kemmerle wasn't bitter at all. His one good eye was a little bitter but other than that he was fine.

Interesting link, as it shows national records that are so weak in most cases that the OP's point is very clear:
For instance, the Canadian Women's "national" record for this 10k/5k double is:
Chantelle Wilder 28 CAN 12/22/13 Pleasanton CA 53:53 36:13 17:40
I personally know at least three women in my area (Golden Horseshoe) that are not national class at anything, just good competitive enthusiasts, that would laugh at this. One of them could have had a legit chance beating this at age 15.
It is like the beer mile.
Better double - Webb or Levins?
He walked away with two plaques, a mug for finishing top 10 in both races, and a free pancake breakfast. Event is sponsored by IHOP. Draw your own conclusions. He was hungry for some pancakes?
you guys can bash all you want. At least he is promoting running locally and the big part is that he can suck up his pride and still run with the joggers. Most retired runners dont do that

Webb cut the course. I am the real winner
Nope, you were so far behind you couldn't see Webb far ahead of you.
AW likes being the big fish in the little pond. Nothing wrong with that. And sub 5 min pace is still faster than 99% of the running population.
I would have doubled to for the free IHOP breakfast.
Alan Webb had a great couple of years leading up to his 2007 season with 13:10 5,000, 8:11 2-mile, 27:30 10k, etc. Has he ever really commented on what went wrong during the 1500 final at the '07 world championships? I think we all know what went wrong in '05. I guess it was he ran well '07, but was soundly beaten by those who were faster, stronger, (and a few.. more doped).

With those times, I hope he did a 50 km bike between races.
What's so bad about those times? - Obviously it was a workout and for a triathlete, it was a pretty good one.
troll XD
did anyone else notice this sentence on webbs wiki: "His coach, Scott Raczko, said that behind Todd Kronenberg, Alan Webb was probably the best athlete that he's ever coached." ???

Alan Webb is one of the best athletes in the history of US running. Him and his weird shaped body had some amazing range in events, with a couple of UNBEATABLE records that will stand the test of time. It will be a long freaking time before we ever see his high school mile time broken. It could be 100 years

haha I was just google searching my name and a link to this thread came up. One of my college teammates wrote that on Alan's wikipedia page a bunch of years ago. Glad it made it on to the letsrun message boards hahaha. I just checked and it has been taken off the page now, but it was up there for a bunch of years.

So were you actually coached by Scott Raczko?

Lol, I thought this was a new thread until I got to your comment! That's hilarious though, how have you been dude, running at all these days?!
9.3 miles at 4:59 pace average within 2 hours is a pretty awesome day of training if you ask me.
lots of guys dedicate a season to run one of those times, plus he's probably in a big block of training
