The people who race 10ks, race marathons, race ultras.
The people who run 10ks, run marathons, run ultras.
Get it?
go ahead and try if you can run WS100 - a top 10 finish there is arguably tougher than a 1:4x 800
Lots of people run ultras. Just like elite marathoners won't have the speed of a 1500 guy, ultra runners are slower because they too have to run greater distances. Guys run 5 k's because they don't have the speed to run 800's. Guys run 800's because they don't have the speed for the 100. Everyone has their sweet spot. Why do you idiots insist on belittling people for the event they want to do? Let's put Sage against Wilson Kipsang in a 50 miler. My bet is on Sage. Maybe Sage doesn't have the speed to run sub 2:10 marathons, like Farah doesn't have the speed to run 400s. It doesn't belittle his accomplishments. What idiots like you continue to show is that you are jealous you don't have the balls to train to run ultras. It really shows.

I get tired of these ultra guys bragging about their supposed great workouts. If these guys were good, they'd be racing to win big money marathons - but they are not, because they aren't that good. Find a distance that no one runs and then call yourself the world champion.
Class response, Sage. Rooting for you all the way. Just ordered your book. Will start reading it on my Kindle tonight. Thanks and best wishes!

He ran a 2:20:02 in the LA marathon.

My book "Running for the Hansons" is pretty bad as a self published "memoir". I'm a horrible writer. It has typos in it and I wrote it when I was even more immature than I am today (believe it or not) . It was a dark period in my life: I was drinking 2 Siberian Night Imperial stouts a night and eating shitty Jets or Hungry Howie pizza!
Sage,
I think you are being way to hard on yourself. You were young and may have made some silly mistakes that we all made at that age. But you must have done an awful lot right. YOU RAN DAMN FAST. You should be proud of how fast you ran in the marathon at such a young age.
I also liked your videos better when you were doing your build up for the 2012 trials. They were more relatable for me. I wish you would pursue the marathon and see how fast you could run without the beer and pizza and a little more maturity.
Wishing you luck in whatever you do.
Lousy diet, lousy coaching, lousy living situation, Lifetime best time for the marathon. Something doesn't add up.

This is Letsrun, so of course it was only a matter of time before someone would throw out a PED accusation.
I read it differently.
Hello, Sage, I have a few questions regarding training for you. I have kind of a unique case, and I was wondering where I could personally reach you via E-mail. If you wouldn't mind giving me that information I'd appreciate it immensely. Thanks!
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
