I really, really, really want to make my varsity team next fall and I know that I will need to practice a lot. My break essentially starts June 8th, and goes to September 1st. The course we will be running is 2.5 miles, but we have an occasional 5k race. The seven man team has one of the best runners in the country, but there will be 3 spots open after the seniors leave. Can any of you think of a training schedule that I could follow to run to my full potential in the fall? I plan to run in the mornings- would swimming in the afternoons (still doing the morning run) hurt or help this training? Also, how can I find the motivation to do these runs, as the first week or two is always hard to find the drive.
