Thank you for posting these.
It's very interesting to see the evolution of recreational running over the years. How it went from a sport to an activity in and of itself is amazing. I think we're at another apex of a running boom right now. Eventually, pack times are going to get faster as people lose interest in the sport and it grows less fashionable/trendy. Hopefully the glossy magazines will follow suit.
Acually we all thought that too....in 1983.

Man those guy are creative with their covers... Really makes you notice how frequently they re-use headlines when all the covers are put side by side.
They do seem to repeat quite a few of the same or very similar headlines. After I finish posting the remainder of the RW covers I'll start adding the covers from "The Runner" magazines, then Running Times, Marathoner, Trail Runner and Marathon & Beyond. It's really interesting to see.

Define "athlete".
To me, someone who's as SCRAWNY as a stick does not qualify as an athlete.
Someone who has big MUSCLES is not an athlete to you?
You need a reality check, moron.
With a bit of luck, someone "who has big MUSCLES" will help you pull that stick out of your ass.

So it's true that the editors have no imagination when it comes to covers.
The Runner 1982 has been added.
Great retrospective! Which leads me to assert that Gayle Barron was one of the most attractive marathoners of all time. She's still gorgeous too.

Judi St Hillaire: fastest distance running rack in history.
I am looking for a photo from runners world 1985 probably a fall month. It was the issue that had East Tennessee/Johnson City listed as the number 1 running area in the USA. The shot was of me (Brian Dunne) and Zane Branson running away from the camera vi road rolling over the hilly landscape with mountains in the background. Zane died in Germany a few years ago while on a run. The picture means a lot to me and I am willing to pay to get a digital copy of it. I thought it was a cover shot but cannot find it on the cover images listed soit must have been an inside article. I was a large image...maybe a full page or half page.
