I've met and chatted with Ed Whitlock many times, from around 2000-2004 when he was still regularly entering some local 5k to10 mile events. I guess he's 'famous' here, and deservedly so. He was in the first race I ever entered (late summer of 2000 - he ran around 17:35 I believe), and I've been a fan ever since. Great guy.
I've met literally countless touring/working musicians from the years I was one myself. Some very well-known. Many of them were pretty quiet, shy/awkward people with an obvious inner drive.
