In fact, they might have been under instructions (or dynamic race instructions) to back off once they were not running that well as a team. Too much might have been made of an early-season fitness level.

When you get to the big stage, what happens with 3/4/5 matters a lot more than what happens with 1/2. If the 4/5 guys are scoring 50-60 points, you can go 1/2/3 and still be well over 100 (e.g., 116). Look at the time difference between Colorado's 4/5 and the Oregon guys and multiply by 3 (or more) per second. Do, however, account for the difference between 8 and 10km in terms of the ability of guys to race well.
Oregon's 1/2 are better than Colorado. Both teams 6/7 are a wash (at least in this race). In the last month of the season can Oregon's 3/4/5 improve 3 to 5 seconds per mile? It's going to come down to which team peaks better at NCAAs. I'm not ready to hand the trophy to Colorado yet.

Simple math...
If Jim Rosa runs, lets say he runs with his brother and gets 4th...
This puts Stanfords score to 43 (-21 + 4), and Colorado's score to 35 (+5).
Much closer...
If Korolev runs like last week and runs with the brothers and gets 5th...This puts Stanfords score to 39 (-4) and Colorados to 40 (+5).
I know 'WOULDA COULDA SHOULDA', but still crazy to think about. If Joe Rosa is healthy, and Korolev runs with them, they beat the 'unbeatable' Colorado team.
If we are playing this game why not put Hurysz up in the pack with the rest of the Buffs? This bumps them by Stanford
What happened to Ben Saarel?
He finished 8th.

Seriously this talk of if Rosa this and if Oregon that is bulls**t. All of your excuses are lame. Colorado rolled you up today and they are going to destroy you at NCAAs. Deal with it.
Nice run for Molly Grabill. I would dearly love to see her lift a trophy with her teammates after what happened to her in that horrific incident when an idiot through a rock through her car window from an overpass 2 years ago. I don't usually root for the Ducks but I'll make an exception in this case.
The Colorado team is Amazing. And their coach is an stellar individual. I had a long conversation with him at USA's, truly a great guy, a humble steward of the sport. HOF coach for sure.
Where will this Colorado team rank amoungst the all time great NCAA XC teams?

You also have to consider that Colorado wasn't giving a full effort since they all finished together. This was a workout for them and they dominated. Wait til they are allowed to run more independtly at nationals.
A workout literally at sea level. Jog in the park for them.

Yes!
So didn't Jim run Rosa?
I'm pretty sure one of the Rosas is out for the season.

He also got 8th at NCAAs last year and if I'm not mistaken he was #1 on his team at Pre-Nats. I guess he had a bad race.

Or Wetmore told him to save it for NCAAs. It is very hard for young runners to put out a maximum effort for 3 XC races in a row to end the season.

This being letsrun I take exception to your exclamation! A more subtle period is in order here, you don't want to come across as too enthusiastic because it turns off the millenials. How old are you... over 35?

Oh yes, I know that for sure lol. I hope that's the case. I would love to see him surprise some people at NCAAs this season.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
