Wow!
I never knew Mark Kiptoo had turned to marathon running. I have a lot of catching up to do.
The old man still has it.

The coverage has been awful but still not as bad as Chicago.

I caught the race at around 1:28 and for almost 30 minutes, I thought the German guy was leading.
I couldn't believe it.
Then, they showed the lead group.
well, may be 15 minutes.
Ethiopia has a good future for ladies marathon running.
They have many good young runners.
Yeah, but it's costing them on the track. Still no replacement for Dibaba and Defar in sight.

Actually I hadnt' looked at it that way.
Save for Almaz Ayana and Genzebe, they don't have other serious 5k runners. Most of them are on the roads.

Not expecting him to become one of the world's best or anything like that, but he should be able to establish a new German NR. Good debut.

True but the newspaper coverage was far worse. Some choice excerpts from the Frankfurter General's recap:
"He took his mouth quite full, and even one or another expert has suggested that he could choke on that thick chunks. 2:10 to announce a target for marathon debut, that was pretty bold . Especially since no German on the 42,195 kilometers was traveling faster since 2000 than 2:13 hours. Can the ever marathon? That was the question that was in the room, and the Arne Gabius replied on Sunday in Frankfurt in an impressive manner."
"At the latest at kilometer 32 but he was left on their own. Without hesitation ever, without any doubt. Without fear of the infamous man with the hammer. Why should they?"
""I was well prepared, I could go with a broad chest at the start." Since his American mentality comes through. The is also reflected in the sentence: "Who rises to the fence must also jump." And he jumped."
Reading that race recap gave me a big headache.

Of course. They should focus on the Kenyan leaders, for the 10 guys on Letsrun who care.
