Don't get me wrong, he is a good runner, obviously. And that is an impressive achievement, but I take issue with your statement.
Unheard of? In the 70s and 80s people did this sometimes. Not all the time, but it happened. Bill Rodgers and Benji Durden and Kjell-Erik Stahl in particlular and they all had several legit 2:10 and 2:11 performances.
