Those times suck
There's an age group 5k world record for 6 year olds!? Who keeps track of this?

It is right up there with pogo stick jumping and other lame records.
3.1 stickers all over the minivan
This was known a couple months ago. You are a little late.

Says the bitter poster who does not hold the record.
22:26 5k at 6 years old is incredible!
I hope he can stay injury free. The impact on his feet running on so much pavement is of concern.
Think of the potential if this kid was living at altitude! And if he was training with Kenyan kids! lol

Yeah that 35 pounds must be leaving holes in the streets.
The kid who just broke the world record is a triathlete from a family with age group national champs (and he is one himself)>maybe a future Verzbicas or that guy from Georgetown Prep (Steve D-something?).
But Kenyan primary school kids cross 5k in 15 flat on the way to school, while carrying books.
Just wait until a Kenyan "6" year old comes along and breaks his records.

On my deathbed, my biggest regret in life will be not going for the 5K "world record" when I was 6.
In April, he set a world record 5K time in his age group, just over 25 minutes. Then, a few weeks later at Irish Fest, he blew that away with a 24:07.
Then, at the Park to Park race in September --
"I ran a 22:26, set another world record by like two-and-a-half minutes," said Jaden. "It was all good."

Uh.... the race happened on September 6th, 2014. 2.5 weeks ago, and the record was just recently ratified.
I'm not sure what you are referring to that happened a couple of months ago.

Several different sources try to keep track of these

What parents are making their 5 year old run a marathon? Looks like he ran it in '78...wonder what he's done since.
Not to mention - how is it even possible for a 5 year old to run a 2:54 800!? Are some of these made up?
I say he is doping, EPO?? That seems to fast for a kid his age. His Mother is a nurse in the local hospital so she probably steals prescription pads and "Legally" get him the gear. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE, CMON!!!!!
That record has been broken by 6 year old Fred Jones a couple of weeks ago at Buds Run 5k in Birmingham, UK.
He ran 21:10 on a hilly twisty course aswell.
wasn't the record held by Grattan O'Neil in 21:52 (in 2013)?
On a related note.
Does any 10 and under world record holders ever do well in HS (or college)?
I see that William Pluma ran a (then) world record of 17:48 at 5k at age 10 in 2010. Pluma is therefore in HS now. How is he doing?
What difference does it make?
Some runners were only good in high school. Some in college. Others were only good after they turned 50. Some only before 10.
