Rupp #1 at 1500, 5k, and 10k.
Perhaps the title should be 10 guys beat Rupp, Kiprop, Magut and Manzano.

You got that right. He got his doors blown off in the last 200. I'll give him credit for trying to compete but he was left standing still when the racing started.
Good that he got a PB. I wonder if Manzano is ok. Did he pull up for some reason or is he really that far off pace?

Which I would say is to be expected. Rupp's fit, but his closing speed hasn't been as good as in previous years. If Rupp could race with 1500 guys off a slow pace that would be more than a little shocking.
Watched the race.
Rupp didn't run a smart race. He made a big surge between 400m and 500m to move up when the pace up front was really strong. If he had been a little more conservative at the point (the whole pack was running at a good pace) he most likely would have had a bit more left the last 200m.
Obviously I have never ran that fast and it is easy to say from my sofa, but I do know a move/surge early in the race usually costs you later on.
A PB is a PB, so well done to Galen, I think he is capable of faster of he ran a little smarter.

Agreed. He seems to make big, unneeded surges in the beginning of a lot of his 5k's, as well. Hopefully a little more patience will help him win some races in the next few years.
Letsrun, let's not show your anti-Salazar/Rupp bias too obviously. He beat Manzano, Magut, and a 3:27 guy in Kiprop, yet he's a 10000m runner. He was boxed as well, though likely didn't have that speed (I couldn't see).
Not sure what happened to Leo today and I'm not sure he knows, either, but I don't think he's hurt. Here is his tweet from about 2 hours post-race:
@Leomanzano
Tough day at the office today. Brushing this one off and moving on. Thank you everyone for your support!
It's Leo. One day he's on fire...the next...
Leo will be running the 1500 at the Continental Cup.
Rupp swung wide early and made a strong move. Anyone who's been watching rupp this year would know he has no tactical awareness. He has always had the speed, but always seems to make newbie mistakes during the race to foil his chances later.
As to why he is an idiot at rationing his energy when his teammate is a master at it is beyond me. The margin of error is very little at this level and one needs to be smart about race surges.

Wish he would stop goofing around at this distance. 10000m, HM, and marathon should be his focus.
People have no perspective, a 5k,10k guy running 3:34 low is amazing. I don't care what you think a guy who is XX:XX fast at 10k is capable of running in the 1500 he still has to do it. Feel like most people are so far out of touch with reality. Do you even run??? Just b/c you put a time into a running calculator and it tells you that you should be able to run this or that across all distances doesnt mean its going to happen or that you are even capable. I wish more 10k guys jumped into 1500s so we could actually see what the top 10k guys have in them at shorter distances. Think its smart for Rupp to do this. He can wait to move to the Half Marathon and Marathon. Keep on keepin on and for those who love to say somebody should be able to do this b/c of that you are unrealistic about life. Enjoy your rupp bashing I love seeing him continue to be a threat in any race he lines up in.

Marathon? Haha Rupp won't break 2:06 and even if he did it won't matter because 2:06 doesn't mean anything anymore.

OMG!!! Rupp beat Kiprop by 26 hundredths of a second!!!!
Did you even watch the race?
Kiprop totally switched off in the end.

Why? Rupp has shown much better capability in the shorter distances than the longer.

Longer distance is where Rupp's future lies.
